1.0 out of 5 stars Without modifications, the factory provided Bike Lane Product is unsafe without these modifications
Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2019
I am an engineer. This product, in its present form, is grossly unsafe. It can be made 100% safe with a fairly simple modification. The factory provided hooks will not stay in position if the bike goes up unevenly, and any bike whose weight is not perfectly balanced front to back will go up unevenly. The problem is the factory provided hooks. Unbolt them from the lifting pulleys AND THROW THEM AWAY!!! Replace the hook with a 1/4" threaded eye-bolt ( a few bucks at a hardware store) attached with a lock nut. Make sure the eye bolt stem clears the rope on the pulley's interior. Then purchase two (available on Amazon) Velcro Easy hangs, rated at 85 lbs each. The easy hangs have a carabeaner that will snap into the replaced eye-bolts, and these will firmly strap to your bikes handlebar stem and rear seat or rear frame. There is NO WAY these will fail meaning your bike lift is now perfectly safe and will not fall down provided the pulleys are correctly screwed into a ceiling joyce. If the manufacturer changes the kit to include the easy hang option, I would give it 4-5 starts. As it is, do NOT buy this unless you modify the kit for safety. I am very surprised these have not been recalled by the consumers product safety commission in their present (as sold) form.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great for me with slight modification
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2019
This is a nifty little hoist system and good value for the money. We have two, 70 lb electric bicycles that were taking up way to much room in my tool crammed 14x20 work shop. I bought the first hoist package to see how it would work out. I didn't like the "hook" arrangement that came with the package so I took the advice of an earlier reviewer and changed over to an eye bolt. I use a 1 inch web and cam buckle strap front and back to attach the E bike. No danger now of anything coming loose or slipping off the bike. I've included a few pictures here to show how I rigged it up. Works so well I bought a second one for the second E Bike! More than enough rope to hang off my 10 high shop ceiling. Auto lock mechanism works great!

5.0 out of 5 stars the hooks don't feel safe
Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021
I modified the installation due to open garage rafters, i had to add some 2x4's to build a sturdy frame, then just used 4 lag bolts to hold the rail directly onto the 2x4's. Most importantly I unscrewed the "hooks" and tossed them into the trash! I replacing the hooks with "Velcro" brand EasyHang strap & carabiners. These are $6 each on Amazon and worth every penny. When you pull your bike up to the ceiling, it's impossible for it to pull exactly straight every time, sometimes the front end goes up first, sometimes the back end, eventually leveling out at the ceiling. Those hooks will slide off your seat, and the bike may fall. Don't believe me? It's up to you. Hate to say this, but the concept of using hooks was poor design in this application. The velcro straps are way safer.
