A big difference between the Harvest and Sprout model (besides the number of pods) is that the Harvest (and models above it) pumps water directly to the individual pods. The Sprout just splashes water and doesn't circulate it much while the Harvest will pump water through channels in the cover to the pods. The water circulation is way better in the Harvest which leads to a more efficient spread of the plant food and yields better results. Lettuce grows much faster in the Harvest. I loved my Sprout for over a year, but the Harvest is better.

Je recommande. Merci
very easy to put together and using the standard/supplied seed kits and pods everything germinated.
i'm on my 3rd run now... using it for herbs or propagating vegetables and then moving to soil / indoor tent.
ya can't beat fresh and i'm thinking people are starting to notice the value in growing their own foods and herbs year round.
there's other ways to set up simple hydro kits, but this is turn key and works flawlessly.
highly recommend for any new enthusiast.

I would like to discuss the wonderful nightmare I had with this product. My wife and I were super excited for this product to arrive. We eat a vegan diet and thought that it would compliment our lifestyle well. When we initially opened the seed pods I saw a dead bug or two at the base of the pods. That was the beginning of what would turn into a bug infestation nightmare. Once planted a couple days later these we noticed the same little small flies buzzing around base of the pods. I stupidly ignored them in the beginning, and by the time I decided to take action our entire apartment was infested with these annoying tiny flies.
The little flies things went all over the place was a complete nightmare. I was killing at least 75 a day for about a week until the problem stopped by me chucking out the pods and water from the areo garden. I believe the problem was with the plant pods coming with bugs in them. My wife contacted customer support and asked them to about the problem, and they told us that too bad on us. That the problem was our fault!!! Was ridiculous, we never once had a bug problem until the areo garden got set up. We could literally see the bugs in the soil of the pods but they had the audacity to blame it on us.
A very uncool experience over all and maybe if your lucky you get non bug infested pods but that wasn't the case by us.
I rarely review products but just had such a negative experience with this.
Good luck to who ever buys I hope you get pods free of bugs so that you can enjoy the product. Its definitely a cool concept.

The lights on the base tell you when it needs more water and when to add more food. I have a reputation as a black thumb and it made me really happy to have such great success with growing plants. In 2022 I think everyone should be doing something to produce some of their own food, due to the supply chain crisis and crazy inflation rates that just keep going up. It's added a lot to my peace of mind knowing if nothing else I can grow my own salads. I realize it will take a while for the savings of my grocery bill to offset the initial cost of the aerogarden, but it's really empowering to feel that I can provide even a little of my own food right now.
I have enjoyed the Aerogarden so much that I ordered a second unit which I have been using for growing herbs. I got the herb kit from Aerogarden and had very mixed results with this. The mint got an aphid infestation after a few weeks, when the mint plant was very large. This surprised me because all the articles about aphids that i read suggest adding mint to your garden because aphids are "supposed" to dislike mint. The dill and basil grew INSANELY well. I've harvested and dried dill and basil three times in the past 2 months. I filled 5/6 trays in my Cosori dehydrator with each batch. The thyme has stayed very small and the parsley also didn't grow very well.
So, I think that the success of the Aerogarden is a bit situational and depends on the type of plant you are trying to grow. Salads are easy and very successful. Herbs.... your mileage may vary. Also, the size of the plants can sometimes be a hinderance to the growth of different plants in the same unit, or easily harvesting the leaves. I had a much easier time harvesting when the entire planter had only the same type of plant growing in it. For example, the basil plants got so large that they completely shaded the thyme and parsley because these grew much slower at the start of the garden. The basil had so many leaves that I had a little difficulty accessing the plants in the center of the planter. So I don't think i will ever try to grow large plants such as tomatoes or peppers in the aerogarden, simply for the convenience of being able to easily access any other plants in the unit.
i am actually considering buying a THIRD aerogarden so I can have two units both growing a large variety of salad greens so that we have enough greens for two adults to have a large salad every single night.

Overall it’s great and I have no regrets purchasing this. We bought a Gardyn tower around the same time and for the price, the AeroGarden has easily outperformed the Gardyn.

As soon as your young plant is two inches in height (the moment you have to adjust the light ceiling higher), start checking under the lid. If the roots are getting thick and beginning to straddle other root systems and conceal the vertical slots in the grow basket, it’s time to remove that plant to a new soil home. If you’re not sure it’s time, gently squeeze the roots with your fingers to see if you can easily slide the plant and its basket out, pulling all the roots through without any damage. Don’t wait too long – they grow QUICKLY.
If you catch them in this early stage (2-3 inches in height with lots of healthy growth on top, but a manageable root system underneath, then you may still lose the basket (and snip roots in the process, but you’ll have a better shot at preserving everything. Simply lift them out, carefully slide off the basket, and plant in soil. Be sure to keep the soil very wet for the first week or so, then gradually ease off the watering to normal moisture levels – this helps the plant adjust to its new milieu.
Id you wait too long, you’ll have to snip roots underneath, squeeze like mad to get the roots up and out through the holes, and then cut the basket off (snipping through the thick top edge, and then snipping off the bottom piece so you can slide the basket legs up and out of the root system. In this scenario, you will often damage the roots too much for a comeback… and even if you don’t, you will have to throw away the grow basket because it will be rendered unusable for a future soil pod.
And herein lies the major design flaw with this product. It’s made to start, but no thought went into what happens later. That is, there’s no great way to get young healthy plants OUT. The top panel should be made of a flexible rubber instead of rigid plastic (with star cutouts around each hole that allow expansion), and the grow basket legs should curve in at the bottom, without attaching to anything, so you could easily slide them out of a tangle root system. Lastly, the grow basket should snap together as two halves so it could be removed by unsnapping and lifting – no damage to the plant, and fully reusable.
AeroGarden team, if you’re reading this, think about a redesign. Your product would become 75% more useful and MUCH less destructive to the environment (no more landfill from the thousands of un-recyclable snipped-up grow baskets your customers are tossing in the garbage).
