How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I bought three of these as they are as good as they come as far as I’m concerned. I would recommend these to anyone because they protect your guitar flawlessly. 5 stars.

I've tried several similar stands from different makers, and they have not been good. Many have mostly plastic parts, or are very prone to tipping. This Amazon Basics stand is well made, with metal parts, rubber feet, and dense neoprene foam covering on the arms that support the guitar. It works very well, stows away neatly, and hasn't gotten wobbly from being toted around to gigs. I wish I'd bought another half a dozen when they were on sale, to use in my music room. Excellent value even at the regular price. I've tried a number of guitars of different sizes, & this stand supports them well, with never any tendency to tip. The construction is very sturdy - it will probably outlast me! JANUARY 2022 Follow-Up. No complaints, and I purchased another when the price returned to "acceptable." I've seen or tried some other, "look-alike" stands, and to sum up why the Amazon Basics one is better: The devil is in the details! The steel tubing used to make this stand is a heavier gauge than other brands I've tried. The "angle-adjustment" mechanism works, and has been robust. The rubber cap at the top of the A-frame makes quite a difference in terms of keeping the guitar upright. It's not slippery - others are. Overall, the build quality and materials are just better than what's found in many similar competitors, and they are sturdy. Mine original one has had plenty of use and is still doing the job - which is one reason I finally bought another. The other reason for buying another of these Amazon Basics stand right now is price: after my original purchase, the price per stand climbed and climbed, reaching almost absurd levels. They are now below CAD$20/each, so for a New Years Gift to myself it seemed like a good I buy. I don't see any change in material or overall quality from the 2019 stand, and this one feels very solid, as the original did. My rating of 5 stars has not changed, and I have tried (and returned) several other stands since 2019 because they were shoddy and not up to the job. No stand is perfect for every style of guitar and every person's needs, but this particular stand works very well for me.

Very simple and easy to use. Easy to setup and high quality that I would trust to hold my guitar.

I unfolded the support arms by squeezing them with vise clamps (haha!) because I needed them to extend more and be less curved for my large handpan, but it works very well. Before I did that, I removed the padding and the tips (easy to do), then I put them back in place after the job, and voilà!
It's sturdy and well made. I just put some additional padding where the edge of the handpan rest on the support. I was please that it worked so well because it's hard to find proper support for a handpan, this instrument being so new.
This support works perfectly and I feel safe using it with my handpan. It won't tip over or fall, it's solid. A handpan is large but very fragile and with this support, I have peace of mind.

This stand is all you need. I pondered over several other more expensive and some more decorative looking than the Amazon basics stand but at the end of the day I chose this one because of all the positive reviews and ratings and they were bang on. We bought two of these and we are so glad we did. We have 3 larger acoustic guitars , one which is a dreadnought. The all fit in the stand comfortably. The metal parts that come in contact with the stand are well padded and will not scratch your investment. When in use, it opens up to be a very stable stand and it folds up small enough that it is easy to transport with you. It is well made and the price is amazing. Very happy with this purchase.

Prior to purchasing this guitar stand, I asked the Amazon community if it would hold a mid size Ovation guitar. Although I received many responses to my question, all dealt with the size of guitar (travel, bass, electric, parlour, or full Dreadnought) being applicable to the stand, rather than would it hold a guitar with a rounded back. So, for the record, I am please to say it does hold a mid bowl round back guitar as the pictures show my Ovation in the stand. It is a very sturdy stand and I am extremely happy with it

My gripe is that the foam pad doesn't extend far enough for my Fender Strat to sit nicely on. I have a few guitars. I bought it so that I could rest the guitar I was playing on next to me. It is strange that it doesn't fit one of the most standard guitar shapes in history. I feel like the felt pad is poorly designed and not cost effective.

Iffy for electrics, fantastic for acoustics
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 26, 2023Style: StandVerified Purchase
The base really shines with acoustic guitars, or other guitar body styles where the body itself is large and tall enough so that the pad at the apex of the A-frame is supporting the guitar body.
Guitars with smaller bodies, including most electrics, don't have tall enough bodies, so the A-frame apex support pad supports the guitar either at the neck joint or on the neck itself. Given that many neck joints and necks are rounded, coupled with the fact that many electric guitars are asymmetrical, leads to potentially very precarious balance issues.
Additionally, smaller body guitars sit very, very deep in the stand -- uncomfortably so, in some cases. When on the stand the bottom of my Yamaha TRBX304 bass was literally less than an inch off the ground, as was my ESP EC1300 (like a Les Paul). It is possible to get the bottom off the ground higher by using one of the narrower A-frame positions, but that makes balance even more precarious because the legs are closer together. Couple that with the fact it's the back of the neck on the pad, the situation is just worse.
So, long story short, if you want to use this to support a traditional acoustic / classical guitar, then you'll love it. It's super sturdy, and the back pad has a bit of rubbery friction which keeps the guitar surprisingly secure even without the upper neck support of tripod stands. I would stay away if you have electrics, however. Not just from this particular stand but from any A-stands altogether unless the A-stand has a separate neck support, too (but even then, I would be wary of the guitar sitting too low in the stand).
Other things -- the stand itself feels good in hand. It has a nice heft and sturdiness to it. The rubber grippy foot things appear tough, and are nice and long, with grooves that run along the axis of the foot which helps the stand / feet from moving side to side. The finish has a bit of a satin look, and overall the standard looks good. The latch mechanism is metal and seems well constructed. It is easy to fold and folds down to a flat shape, but it's not exactly light. Might be too big to fit in even a large gig bag pocket.

This stand is a gem among guitar stands.

I've been a pro guitarist for almost 60 years and used many styles of guitar stands. This one fits every instrument I have, including my Les Paul, my Stratocaster, my Irish bouzouki, acoustic 12 string, my Gibson flattop, and my banjos. It is remarkably steady and folds up well enough to fit into the rucksack I use for my accessories and music binder. I've seen others similar, but on this one, the arms lock solidly into place and it does not get back heavy, with no stress on the neck as other upright stands sometimes do. I originally bought it for playing the local open air farmers market where I had to use a minimum of gear and I have disabilities making me unable to carry a lot of gear on any one gig. But it is one of the most convenient, solid and usable guitar stands I've ever had and easily carried and stowed in the car or the closet. The best buy for the money I've seen in a long time. It also is useful when doing string changes to put the instrument on this stand which does not interfere with the neck or tuners when detuning, restringing, and retuning.

I was surprised by the quality for under $20, I and enjoyed the lack of needed assembly. My standard acoustic fits snug. The stand has foam in all the right spots.

Saludos
