Didn't want to give a 1-star review as maybe I should have investigated before purchasing, but anyone looking to do the same should avoid it as it isn't as simple as perhaps it should be.

After a LOT of research, mainly reading reviews that weren't very good, I came across one that simply said it worked with 2011 imacs. And it does. Lol. I'd used a similar one on an older iMac and whilst it worked I was a pain to get the right resolution set and it was never 100% right.
This one however, just worked. Very impressed. And I now have a 27in iMac with a 2nd screen.
Great stuff.

Of course, if you use a wireless device such as chrome cast or Amazon fire stick, you have the luxury of not tying your computer to your TV, but I chose this wired option because it’s just a lot simpler.
You will need to go into your settings to work out how to mirror your MacBook screen to an external screen, but that is quite easy, and you can look that up on the Internet.

This one works with maximum resolution and setings very very smooth.
If I try 4k video settings on youtube I get a bit of lagging, but on 1080p the quality is very good and smooth.
So overall happy!
