5.0 out of 5 stars An educated review from somebody who has common sense.
By Scott Seguin on March 28, 2021
Wow I can't believe how stupid some people are who write reviews so I've decided to write my own and clear up a few idiotic reviews on here.

First of all the charging for the headset uses a magnetic charger as I'm sure most people have for their cell phones nowadays. So yeah if you have an elite strap with a battery that's not going to work but that would be common sense. Pull out the elite strap battery connector put in the magnetic connector and it works great. It's not a design flaw, it's you're using an extra accessory and you should pull the damn thing off if you're going to use this.

Next somebody is complaining about it not fitting the grips of the controllers. It fits the controllers just fine if you're using stock controllers, but yeah if you've got some sort of custom mod on there then of course it's not going to work that is common sense again but apparently common sense is so rare that it's a superpower. Take off your custom mod and it works perfectly. I have gun mods that I 3D printed guess what I have to take those off to charge my controllers. Wow that's such a shocker.

We got some other people complaining that the headset never charges or never shows that it's charged and the light stays orange even though the light on the headset is green. Clearly these people don't understand that if you leave your headset on, your headset is still drawing power. So the charging station is constantly powering your headset because you have it on in the charging station and never shut it off. Which is perfectly fine that's what I do but that's common sense again you're leaving your headset on and not powering it down so it's drawing power and that's what the anchor station is telling you that it's drawing power. Shut off your headset and you will see three green lights across the board.

And then some other people are complaining about the batteries overheating yeah that happens with like any type of rechargeable battery if you don't have your battery sitting right. Believe it or not electricity is hot. So if you have electricity flowing from one source to another and the connection is not made properly that heat is going to transfer somewhere else. Make sure you install your damn batteries correctly and you won't have any problems.

Every negative review that I read on this product is user error. My charging station works great cuz I'm not a moron and I know how to read instructions and use common sense. So if you're not a moron and you can follow instructions you will love this product. Not only does it house the equipment amazingly, it also charges faster. I can go from a completely dead battery to a fully charged headset in about 1 hour. That's an hour and a half faster than using the charger that came with the Oculus Quest 2.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't really work if you have an Elite strap + Battery Pack fitted
Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2021
So this review will be broken down into two, with and without Elite Strap +,Battery Pack.
1) If you have the standard as it comes Quest 2 headset you product is amazing. Fits great, you can leave the power dongle in the headset for quick connection to the base station for charging. The hand controller modifications are easy to make and the color matching is perfect. Over all looks great when charging. I would give the product 5 stars in this version of the Quest 2.

2) with the elite strap + Battery Pack fitted. Ok, so the elite strap + Battery Pack turned up a week after I got the charger base station. Before ordering this base product, the manufacture was saying it works with the elite strap. I have noticed that they are not saying the same on freshly asked questions. The problem is to fully charge the battery in the elite strap it needs to be plugged into the Quest 2. If you do this firstly you lose the option to use the nice little dongle that comes with the charging base. If this was the only issue I would be fine. I planned on simply running a second usb c cable to the charger port on the back of the elite strap. That way I could charge both together but lose the charge indicator led. Well the problem is the headset does not fit into the charging base with the strap connector attached to the quest 2.

The only solutions are not to use the charging station or use it to charge the headset (by removing the elite strap connector) then once complete remove the headset from the charger base plug the strap back in and then plus the standard charger into the strap.

I have been a product designer in consumer electrics for over 20 years. The solution to this would have been so easy. Add a cut out so that the headset could fit into the charging base with the elite strap power connector fitted. And add a secondary usb c port on the rear of the base charger so you could run a cable to the elite strap directly. That way both would charge and it could still use the charge indicator leds on the front. Such a shame as it’s a great product until you add the elite strap.
