I’ve read all of Nicholas Sparks novels that he has wrote loved them all. But this one wasn’t his best work in my opinion I was very disappointed with his choice of writing when it came time to Dreamland.

is something wrong with me i didnt like this book and it has great reviews lol i skipped so many pages , colbys part was legit meh then it took a turn at the very very end that was some what interesting - im so sad but it was such a hard pass

Thriller mixed with romance wasn’t my cup of tea!

Hmm this one just didn’t hit the mark for me… and I really just didn’t enjoy reading it.
That being said, it was an easy / straightforward read and I enjoyed Colby’s POV/ story but Beverly’s story gave me whiplash and I mostly felt anxious, confused and in general kind of yucky?! It hit too close to home for me based on personal experiences in my life, so perhaps I’m unfairly rating the book, but I just didn’t like it.

Also much of the book I felt like I was going back and forth between the movie Sleeping with the Enemy and a romantic happy summer fling movie.

You might enjoy this if you like trying to puzzle how two wildly different stories fit together and if you like a bit of thriller with a side of romance.

First Nicholas Sparks Book

Just like that my first Readalong is finished, with the completion of Dreamland by Nicholas Sparks.

This book came into my life at just the right time; it seemed to be the bridge I needed to get from a summer mindset, and dive into the autumn one I know I need. I truly think this seasonal transition is the perfect setting to read Dreamland, and I would recommend this book to anyone feeling the same end of summer blues!

I was so swiftly caught up into the evolving love story of Colby and Morgan, and the story of motherly love between Beverly and Tommie. This story is broken into seven parts, and I read them (almost) one at a time. After reading each section, I had time to think over what I had just read, and sort out my thoughts before continuing on the following day. I found this really helped, as this was a very emotional book, just as I suspected it would be.

This is a very character driven book, that takes place over a very short course of time, so if you’re looking for a lot of plot or forward progression, you’ll need look elsewhere. I’m still struggling with how I feel towards the mental health aspects represented, especially as what is presented is only one dimension of something that can take on many forms.

I found myself really loving Colby’s character from the start, but had reservations towards Morgan; I just didn’t trust her, and she made a couple comments that I found snippy and snarky towards the end of the book. Maybe my feelings towards her are because she is a very young twenty-one-year-old, especially in contrast to Colby, who had to grow up quickly and seems older than his twenty-five years. I instantly connected to Beverly, and understood where she was coming from, making me really enjoy her sections.

If you're looking for an end of summer romance, with nods to music, farm life and a little mystery - then this is your book!

I love Nicholas Sparks books. When I found out this was releasing, I immediately preordered it! I have read all of his books and have only been disappointed in two of them and this book is one of them. First off, I love Colby in this book, he is very family oriented and a genuinely great guy. You can tell he loves hard and cares deeply about his family and his work. He’s been dealt a bad hand in life and hasn’t let it define him and what he can do. I don’t really care for Morgan much idk why, but she kinda gets on my nerves. However, I do like how she comes back for Colby after hitting it big in Nashville. Beverly’s story was ok, I understand she has mental health issues, and the reasons behind it, but I feel it wasn’t played out well with the rest of the book. I just feel there could have been more. Maybe I just need to read it again. Like I said I’m the title, it is a good book, just not a typical good Nicholas Sparks book. Cant wait for the next book to come out!

Easy read/intriguing story by Sparks but definitely needed some more spice! A friend recommended this and while I did enjoy trying to figure out how the stories overlapped, I felt that the love story could’ve been taken up a notch:) I was afraid there wouldn’t be an HEA at first BUTTTT he came through at the end 😂

I read ALL Nicholas Sparks novels and have been a huge fan from the begining. I was disappointed with Dreamland as it didn't capture my attention like most of his other novels have. Normally I can't put them down but this one was almost painfully boring and the story line was way too drawn out. It finally captured my attention at I'd say the last 3 chaptures in true Nichalas Sparks fashion but up until then it read like an adolesent, slow moving story line.
