Chris Philbrook is the creator and author of the urban fantasy series The Reemergence, the dark fantasy series The Kinless Trilogy, sci-fi Colony Lost, the cosmic horror series The Darkness of Diggory Finch, and the post apocalyptic epic Adrian's Undead Diary. He also writes young adult science fiction under the pen name W.J. Orion.

Chris' first book in print was The Wrath of the Orphans, the initial book of The Kinless Trilogy set in his grim, post-apocalyptic fantasy world of Elmoryn.

Adrian's Undead Diary has thirteen titles available in print, eBook and audio, with two or three more planned.

Tesser: A Dragon Among Us is Chris' first foray into the world of urban/contemporary fantasy. There are five books released in the series.

The Darkness of Diggory Finch is a snarky take on Lovecraftian horror set in quaint, corrupted New England. TDoDF is set for five books, and two are out as of this writing.

Colony Lost has a single full-length release as of right now, plus a sequel eBook called Colony of Lies. Three eBook sequels are planned, which will be collated into a full-length print, audio, and eBook release when completed.

Chris is the owner of Tier One Games LLC, his game development company. He and his creative partner Jason DeBit are working on a 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting titled RockJockeys. He also co-owns Latchkey Comics with artist Jason Casey. He prefers to collaborate artistically with people named Jason.

Chris calls the wonderful state of New Hampshire his home. He is an avid reader, writer, role player, miniatures game player, video game player, painter and procrastinator. He and his wife share their home with two perfect daughters.

Having followed Philbrook's career over the years, I'm constantly amazed how he reinvents himself. Nothing stale about this author. The dude always gives his fans something new to sink their fangs into. Diggory Finch is one of those multidimensional characters you want to know more about. I found myself quickly swiping to the next page to see what would happen next. I found all the characters relatable and the style of writing easy to digest. For those of us with a short attention span, Philbrook is our hook up. Once you start this book you won't want to put it down, so make sure you have a few hours to spare because you're in for a rare treat!

I've gotten lazy lately and just been giving authors stars and not bothering with reviews, but this book deserves an actual review. I won't bother copying and pasting the synopsis like a lot of these "professional" reviewers do, since you can just scroll up and read it. What I will do is say that I've loved Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos for over 20 years, and I love reading other author's takes on the genre? Mythos? No matter, this review is warranted because this is the best take on Lovecraft that I've read since reading Lovecraft himself, and I can't wait to check out the other books in the series!

I love this book. Diggory Finch is such an interesting character. And it seems he may be the first in his line to be smart enough (or dumb enough) to stand up and face what is going on head-on. Of course, he has the most amazing new friend - the local librarian. Librarians are awesome and she believes him and is standing by him. It appears she will be a strong female character in the series - which is always a plus. But my favorite character other than these two is the psychiatrist. I backed the kickstarter and also won a contest, so I got to name a character. Morandia Hallett Perry is named after me, so every time I hear her name I smile. I don't know yet if she is good, evil, or a product of her situation, but she is part of the twelve. I'm very curious about the 13th.

This book is broken into two types of entries - Diggory's diary entries for his future self and Interlues which give us some insight into the other world and the history of Twin Falls. This is an excellent device to separate yet bring together the story. I look forward to the next one. A++. I'm ready for more! The narrator is exellent as well. And he even pronounced my name choice correctly! Kudos to him for that. Way to go Joe! I loved this book so much I purchased the ebook and audiobook.

I am generally not into horror, but this one is a good one. I will read more in the series as they come out. I recommend you do too.

This is so good! I loved Diggory on the first page - where the action and attitude start immediately. He is such a strong multi-dimensional character with such honest reactions and motivations. He’s super easy to relate to. The story is eerie with great world building and lore setup. I was so eager to see what happened, so I flew through the story - but now I’m having end-of-book remorse and cannot wait until the next is released! Not a copy of ADD, but similar awesome format of journal entries and lots of fun and awkward episodes, I just love The writing style and ease of dialogue. Thanks for another awesome series to keep on the watch for!

The Awakening is definitely a must read! This series is going to be huge. Chris Philbrook has written another hit series for sure. The book hooks you the minute you start it and Joe Hempel the Narrator does an incredible job. This is written in the diary/journal entry style that Chris uses in Adrian's Undead Diary series and it is so awesome. It truly feels like a friend handed me his journal to read. The "interludes" are so interesting and gives a lot of great information on the town and the situation our "hero" finds himself involved. I will be patiently (haha) waiting for the second book in the series.

The more books by Chris Philbrook I read the more I love his style. Diggory Finch is kinda broken, very real, and you can't help but like him immediately. I finished this book so quick I want to read it again! It was such a page turner I couldn't stop. Highly recommend this book and quite honestly anything written by Mr. Philbrook is time we'll spent his characters are real the stories entertaining and every book I've read so far has hooked me thoroughly and made me a huge fan! This is my new favorite book and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!
