So far so good.Ok.so far it's been great. It arrived and was placed at my door which I appreciate since at times my packages are dumped by my front gate
!!!! It's a huge heavy duty box .easily put together all i had to do was put on handles..and the oil and gas .. we have a wild yard by that I mean we don't really have pretty grass .it is more woodlands under heavy oaks.Our self propelled mower tends to stick in the soft ground. This trimmer mower is much easier to propell on our softer ground. It starts easily and the cutting cord is heavy duty ..comes with oil and Manuels and with extra cords but so far I haven't had to change them. .I spent 2 days using this trimmer mower we had horrible weeds , Johnson grass and oak saplings and brush !!!! It takes it down well. It killed one snake as I was mowing ( sorry but Yay !! ) I went thru 4 tanks of gas in 2 days I don't know if it just uses more than I thought it should or I was putting it thru extra heavy work ..and I do think I put it to a good work out on this big property . It was pretty easy to push for me I am female , 63 years old and not in athletic condition . It is very user friendly so far I have to say I love it and it's been a lifesaver. I didn't detect the motor vibrating roughly like someone mentioned in a review. I didn't bog down very much( only once) and this place was over grown as heck. hopefully it will last ..I can't attest to longlivity yet but as far as from what I observed I Love it .

This thing is a BEAST with power to spare, and it is about 50% larger than I expected. The "strings" measure .126 inches (.125 is 1/8 inch) and they are square rather than round, which should provide for better cutting. One pair of strings is installed, and five pair of replacements is included.

The four-cycle, 140cc motor uses SAE 10W-30 motor oil, and regular (non-ethanol) gasoline, which eliminates the need for mixing oil and gasoline; I consider this a big plus.

The spindle height is adjustable, but the actual cutting height of 2.5 inches is not.

The front of the trimmer rides on an inverted steel dome at the base of the spindle. Constant friction will wear out the dome over time and a replacement will eventually be needed, but there is no parts list or provision for purchasing replacement parts.

Two mounting bolts for the motor are missing/unused, but the deck is not drilled to receive them.

The oil cap is awkwardly placed, making it inconvenient to check the oil level or add oil. I recommend a log-necked funnel for filling or adding oil.

The Best Thing for Weeding Vinyl Fencing - and FAST!

We have about 3000 linear feet of vinyl horse fence. It's been a pain in the a** to maintain. I just did my first trial of my new machine and knocked out 300 feet on one side of the fence in well under 10 minutes. The cool thing is that it reaches way past the center line of the fence, so the other side will just need minor cleanup at the posts. I was worried it would damage the fence posts, but I saw no evidence of damage. Cranked brand new on the second pull. Would absolutely buy again. Probably the biggest bang for the buck of any land maintenance tool I own. It's actually fun to use.

A Golden Rod eating Monster

My property has a large lawn cut into the natural grasses of the area. Maintaining my lawn edge and the trail system around the property has been difficult using a zero turn mower and a hand-held weed whip. There were enough areas that were too small or rough for the tractor but had thick grown that was more than my weed eater could handle.

This guy is a beast of a mower. It acts like conventional lawn mower in that you can just push the thing across your lawn and it will cut a trail of flat and level grass. That level is adjustable up and down using a tool. Where this think rocks (pun intended) is in areas where you'd grit your teeth with a normal mower - cutting grass growing though rocks and tree roots - hoping you didn't bang the blade against something damaging. That's not a problem with this string cutter as it's thick 0.10 "stings" (more like the size of a straw) slice though Buckthorn and bounce off of rocks.

This trimmer is capable of ripping up berry brambles, full-sized Golden-Rod, and Buckthorn saplings up to about finger diameter.

Easy enough to start the trimmer has started first or second pull using premium no ethanol fuel. This is a four stroke engine and the manufacture supplies a bag of oil. Unfortunately they put that bag of oil between the trimmer and box so that in shipping the bag burst and covered the instruction manual and a bit of the trimmer in oil. The manuals are on-line and Ace sells the correct oil.

The manufacturer includes a handful of the replacement strings. Those things are easier to change out than most spool type trimmers. If you have weaker hands a pair of common pliers will help you work the plastic sting into the metal mount. In use I just wire tied a spare sting set to the push handle.

I've run this trimmer though the irrigation ditch along side the country road I'm in and it cut everything fed to it as I ran it up, down, and sideways though the ditch. This thing is so easy to use it makes difficult cutting chores much easier. It's large rear wheels really let you get into some rougher areas. The engine seems plenty powerful enough for its purpose.

This thing is a powerful and noisy beast. I recommend wearing hearing and eye protection for certain.
