Bait n' Witch by Abigail Owen is the third book in her Legendary Consultants series, a series that follows the cases of Brimstone, Inc ... a supernatural help service is the best way to describe it. In Bait N' Witch, it centers around Rowan, a powerful witch, raised to distrust her peers, and is currently hiding from Mage High Council, after the events of the first book (The Demigod Complex), where she was abducted, and compelled to perform magic to attack others. In fear of her life, she asks Brimstone Inc. for help hiding. Enter Greyson, the Mage High Council's best enforcer (witch-hunter), and a very powerful mage himself, who is tasked to hunt down Rowan and bring her in for questioning. In an ironic twist, he also asks Brimstone Inc for help. Not in the hunt, but in finding a nanny for his twelve-year-old triplet daughters, who run nannies off frequently. The solution: Hide Rowan in plain sight, as the newly hired nanny to Greyson's daughters.
This isn't the first book I have reviewed of Abigail Owen's. (See here for my review on Shift Out of Luck). I wasn't the hugest fan of it, but it didn't push me away from requesting another book of her's. Abigail Owen's is a good writer, so I wanted to give her books another chance. I'm glad I did. The story was cute and fun, and original. It's a quick read (I had it done in less than a day), but it didn't need to be longer. It's quick and to the point, with just enough to push the story along, as well as make the attraction between our two narrators believable, as well as the bond Rowan builds with the girls.
The characters are well-written, with thorough backgrounds, and different personalities. Rowan might be in fear of her life, and her free-will, but she is strong, and protective of those she loves. She might be in hiding, and not a professional nanny, but she takes her charge seriously. Greyson is your typical alpha-male. Lost when it comes to raising teenage daughters by himself, especially daughters with unknown magical powers, and swamped with work, he brings a strict level of control into his home by having his daughters follow strict schedules. While stern, he is loving, and only wants the best for them. Rowan and Grey's first meeting is a delight, and the chemistry is great between them. I saw why they were attracted to one another, which was something that was missing in the first book I read from Abigail Owen.
If you enjoy the supernatural genre, and romance, you will enjoy Bait n' Witch by Abigail Owen. It's a fun, light, quick read, with likable characters, and some steamy moments that will make the romance reader happy. Bait n' Witch is out June 15th, 2020.

Greyson Masters may be the Syndicate’s best hunter, but he’s also a widowed father of preteen triplets who have a power no one can quite figure out. The triplets need a new nanny and Brimstone, Inc. has sent over Rowan, a witch of supposedly little power. Rowan is the first person who has been able to bring peace to Greyson’s household, but there’s something about her that makes him restless. The pull between them is strong, but what will happen when Rowan’s secrets are revealed?
As individuals, Rowan and Greyson are wonderful characters. Rowan is a powerful witch who has survived more than most could deal with and she’s retained her strength and kindness through it all. I loved watching her bond with Greyson’s daughters from the first. Preteens can be scary enough but add in magic? Yikes. Rowan is more than up to the challenge, though. She slides easily into the Masters household and into the hearts of the family itself. Greyson is the best at his job but he’s slightly in over his head in his household. He’s a loving father who is doing his best and it’s easy to adore him. As a couple, he and Rowan click from the start. I loved watching how they seamlessly became a couple, almost without realizing it. But Rowan can’t hide who she is and how powerful her magic is for forever, not from Greyson and not from the werewolves that are hunting her.
Bait N' Witch is just plain fun to read. It has romance, magic, action, and even a small mystery featuring the triplets’ abilities. I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t want to put the book down. I love how author Abigail Owen weaves together all different magical and mythical beings to create a fascinating world. If you don’t mind spoilers for the first book in the series, The Demigod Complex, then you can read Rowan and Greyson’s story as a standalone. I enjoyed everything about Bait N' Witch and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the Brimstone Inc. series.

I knew nothing about this author and something in the blurb intrigued me.
I read a few paranormal authors, yet in a few weeks, I discovered three new ones and I loved the insight they give of this very wide world.
Vampires are in the paranormal beings I like the lest, so far I do not find their blood lust very enticing, plus their cruel behavior often leaves me unsettle.
Shifters, I very much prefer, is it because of their bond with their animal side, I just prefer when the mating urge does not devour all the romance part.
And so far, outside Harry Potter, I have only read one or two romances about witches and warlords, I was never very much attracted by this side of the paranormal universe, I do not know why, maybe my upbringing reading Marvel and DC comics, I do prefer forms of life with superpowers.
So It was with very neophyte eyes I began my reading, and I was instantly smitten. So much I read it quite fast. I did not felt lost despite it being the three books in a series and the whole background quite new to me.
The plot was interesting, the characters attractive, and the book in itself answers all the questions emerging from the first chapters.
The open epilogue is a sweet teaser for what might come later.
Rowan, despite she being on the run, looks like a resilient and determined woman, not once broken pat her many ordeals, in fact she comes out every time stronger.
She is not bitter about her fate and what she faced in the past, still able to love and enjoy life even if she knows time is running out.
Greyson is supposed to be the more powerful of the two, yet Rowan, lively nature and inner talent with kids breaches his defenses, she crumbles his walls and opens himself to feelings he buried long ago.
This fast paced and entertaining had me mesmerized at how they would deal with the villains and how they might redeem Rowan her past deeds.
4.5 stars
I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Entangled, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Rowan needs someone in her corner now more then ever. Life is crashing down around her, and to survive she must do the unthinkable. Greyson has a lot weighing on his shoulders. He must find an impossible balance between family, work, and life. Can two people lost and alone in the world fill the massive void in the others life, or will they bring their world tumbling down no matter what they do?
I found myself completely entranced by the intriguing Rowan and the straight laced Greyson. These two rubbed against each other at first meeting, and they entertained me the entire time. They captured my heart and set me on a course for a powerful climax of epic proportions. Nothing prepared me for the power and beauty of this brilliant work of art.
Abigail Owns is a master at pulling all of my heart strings. She doesn't pull any punches, and when she throws twists at you, she makes you feel every excruciatingly painful edge. I love this intensity to her writing, and I can't wait to see what she creates next in this fabulous series!!

A widower raising triplet teenage girls, juggling their burgeoning magic while staying on his toes as Enforcer to the Council, Greyson appeared to be a bit stuffy, when he was really a doting dad struggling with a lot on his plate.
The attraction was unexpected, as was the bonding of the family with Rowena. But what fun it was to see these two realize what they didn’t know they were missing!
This was a fun read! The sparks between Rowena and Greyson were fantastic and the irony of Greyson’s daughters’ abilities...talk about Fate having the last laugh! Those girls were a hoot!
Book three in the series, Bait N’ Witch can be read by itself, but the others are worthwhile just to meet everyone else and see Delilah in action!
