RISK CAPTURE AND DISSECTION FOR A CURE?
Seventeen year old Mesilane — Lane — captured and deliberately infected with the Wasting virus. Surviving both the virus and the trial cure, she makes her escape into the barren Wasteland.
Running into the Chevies, a Gypsy-like trader clan, should have solved her problems. But Lane discovers that her abduction wasn't unique, but only the latest in a series of disappearances spanning decades. The Chevies have a plan, and only Lane holds the key to finding the organization behind it all.
To make matters worse, her unexpected reunion with Fallun, the tall and tanned spice-trader she knew from childhood, opens a door to complications she doesn't have time to face. The Wasting has struck again, and there's one chance for a cure — back at the lab she escaped from.
She might die getting the cure, but can she live with herself if she doesn't?
The Bee Gene introduces dystopian and post-apocalyptic fans to a world ravaged by a viral disaster in this first installment of the Wasting War. Basically, imagine if the movies Maze Runner and Contagion had a baby, and that baby was raised by gypsies…

Cari Buziak's writing style kept me engaged, and it was very difficult to put the book down. There was so much detail that I felt everything that the story's protagonist, Lane, was experiencing. I enjoyed the journey that Lane goes on, and the surprises along the way. I would recommend this book to anyone who reads, as it made my life better by reading it.
