Hitch Racks
Bicycle racks come in many formats such as hitch racks, trunk racks, and roof racks. The ideal one for you will depend on your vehicle type (which affects attachment methods), and how many bikes you want to transport. For vehicles with a hitch and the proper receiver size, hitch racks are the easiest way to get multiple bikes on your vehicle.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
This rack is sturdy, doesn't wobble and does it's job. It may not fit 4 big bikes, but for my familiy it's perfect!
Would give 5 stars if it came with more straps. but good deal anyways
Seller sold me open box item with scuffed marks with beat up box.
Please make sure you tighten bolts all the way through the hitch and rack frame. The rack is very sturdy. No sway when carrying bikes. Easy to tilt away from the vehicle when accessing the trunk..
If you have a 1 1/4" receiver and there is a back on it, this will not work for you.
Also the 2" adapter that came on it is tightened down so firmly I almost broke an Allen key trying to remove it.
Otherwise it looked like a fairly nice rack, but unfortunately it was unusable for me.

We’ve used it a lot and the only issue is that the bikes rub a little. So putting some padding where the bikes touch is something to consider.
PRO:
--This is a sturdy feeling unit. I am impressed with the welds and the robustness of the design. Everything works like it should.
--Was easy to put together. You will need some wrenches.
CONS:
--I don't particularly care for is the 1.25" to 2" adapter. That thing could be a little more snug. I can shim it up and make it less wobbly/rattle less, but I only do that for longer road trips. The other issue related to this is the hitch pin. It is a threaded bolt with a whole for a pin on the end. You will need a wrench with you to install this snuggly, otherwise the threads are machined well enough you could just hand tighten this in and be fine for shorter rides. Which is what I do.
--The triangles used to support the bike are pretty large. 24" universal mountain bikes with a "top bar adapter" were a little fiddly to get on the rack. I had to raise all the seat posts up to make enough room to get them hung. This could be my technique, but it can be a challenge to hold a heavy bike up that long for some people.
Observations:
I had to learn the hard way that women's bikes and "universal" bikes will require an adapter on most bike carriers of this style. If you are curious, there are three types of frames:
>Mens -- Straight upper bar that goes nearly level with the earth from stem to stem
>Womens -- Swoopy bar that curves and bends, you know when you see it.
>Universal -- These are like a men's bike, but the top bar is angled downward, no bends.
The Allen brand adapter is the least expensive and I have three of them now. There is a review about those where someone got some vinyl hose and wrapped that around the pin that goes under the handle bars. I recommend that too.
The first thing we are going to do is take it on a 5 hour car trip down the interstate to a secluded beach house (you know, covid) I will update the review if anything "Shakes out" on that trip.
The reason I chose this bike rack was the several reviews that mentioned they had used this for years while hauling bikes up and down the USA. I did not pick the ALLEN four bike rack (premium) because there were several reviews that showed bent arms. Time will tell if this was the right "Sub-200" dollar bike rack.
Also - I paid money for this and no one is my keeper. These are my opinions, period.

Pros:
- Price (I paid about twenty $ less than it is currently going for. I don't know that I would have bought it for the current price of 105)
- Sturdy (it is heavy and seems like it will take a lot to break it)
- Works for both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. (Although I haven't used it on a 2" hitch yet, I like the fact that I can if I get a different car in the future.)
- Holds 4 bikes (there aren't many 1-1/4" racks that hold 4 bikes.)
Cons:
- Threaded pin - I absolutely hate the threaded pin/bolt! It is time consuming and a pain to put on and take off the car! I guess the good news is that a thief will give up long before they take the time to steal this rack!.
- The large plastic triangles that the bikes rest on. They are bulky and are difficult to work with for bikes without a standard straight cross-bar.
- In general, this rack is a pain to use with kids' bikes, women's bikes, and men's bikes that don't have a standard straight cross-bar. That being said, you can work around those issues, but it will take lots of time and (in some cases) cost you more by buying an adjustable cross-bar to make non-standard men's bikes work.
- When 4 bikes are loaded on this rack, it makes it difficult for people following you to see your lights on a smaller vehicle (I'm using it on a 2012 Ford Escape). I ended up taking the reflectors off the end of the rack and I added a light bar that has a taillight, brake light, and turn signals built in. While that might not be the fault of the rack alone, it could be easily resolved if the manufacturer would add lights instead of reflectors to the end of the rack.
(Pics show without light bar, with light bar, and a closeup of light bar.)
