Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962 and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Berenstain Bears during 2012! Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania.

1.0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter References
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 12, 2022
Generally love these books and own most. I like they’ve gone a little more Christian themed with their messages the past few years, so was a bit surprised to find Harry Potter references in this one. Seems that theme is for an older kids crowd and can be a divisive topic in the Christian community. They picked so many other classical kid-friendly story books for their story line, I’m not sure why they went this direction. Was not happy with the ending page being Sister bear laughing “wickedly” and the Cubs having some kind of magic wand battle scene. My kids were very uncomfortable with this one, didn’t finish reading it and didn’t want to pick it up again due to the wizard scenes. We ended up tearing the last page out that had the two pages shown above and they came up with their own story theme art to cover the other page referencing Harry Potter. I know the Harry Potter details won’t be a big deal to a lot of families, but for those who are sensitive to it and don’t want it in their home, I think it’s good to have a heads up that it’s in this book.
