Rincez bien a l'eau froide et vous serez combler
2) The smell while cooking makes you gag
3) The texture is the worst texture I have ever had. Reminded me of those oil beads avon sold when I was a kid.
Could not eat it. Even my dogs refused to eat it.
The way I prepared it was: I took 4 tablespoons of the konjac rice (placed the rest in a container with water), then washed/rinsed it for 10-15 minutes in water. Then boiled the rice for 40-50 minutes. Then dry cooked/fried it in a pan. Then combined the cooked konjac rice to some normal rice (I wanted some of the calories/nutrients from normal rice). Finally, made fried rice using the two types of combined rice. Result: the fishy smell of the konjac rice was still there, though very faintly but still very present. So it really ruined the whole meal for me. My stomach was also acting weird an hour or so after the meal (twitching a LOT, gurgling, etc). I drank a LOT of water and only had like 4 tablespoons of the konjac rice.
I think konjac rice just isn't for me. Obviously a lot of people seem to love it, maybe I didn't prepare it correctly. But I also kind of can't get over how weird konjac rice is. It doesn't digest or break down, it has no nutrients, it can cause stomach discomfort if you don't drink enough water (though I did!), it can cause esophagus obstruction in some rare cases. Its like those weird diet pills. And every time I took a spoon full of rice in my mouth, I felt like I was eating plastic (or something inedible). I'd rather just go the long way and learn portion control :(.
