To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Purchased as a gift for my 2.5 yr old for when his baby sister arrives in a few weeks but unfortunately I will have to return this copy. The copy I received had several misprints as shown. Hope to receive a replacement in time as it seems like it would be a great little read for my son!

My toddler is going to be a big brother, and this is his favorite book! He tells me how he wants to help push the stroller, get the bottle and blanky etc... It actually also got him interested in potty training, I think it was the page that says ew a dirty diaper found by me - now he says his diaper is dirty and needs changing, and has been much more interested in using the potty. None of his other potty training books even got him interested so.... this is double winner, here!

I bought one for each of my kiddos becoming an older sibling. 2 were under 2 and this book really helps them understand what it will be like to have a new baby in the house

I was worried how would I let my 3 year old accept his baby sister when we take her home. It was an amazing book. My son was able to anticipate how his role be when we took our second baby home. He loves her sister. Thanks to this book!

Not for everyone

I bought this for my two year old grandson and won't be giving it to him because it depicts bottle feeding as normal. His mum breastfed him successfully and happily, and expects to breastfeed his sibling. I'd prefer to give my grandson a book that normalises breastfeeding, and which will not give him the false expectation that he can "help" to feed the baby. This might work for others but not for us. It would be more useful to have a story that opens up a discussion about how the baby has milk from mummy.
In addition the newborn is shown being bathed with bubble bath. No!!!

Wish it came as a board book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on January 13, 2020Verified Purchase
This is a good simple story for a new big brother, suitable for the youngest age group (my firstborn isn't quite two and although he wouldn't be able/allowed to do all the things the big brother in the book can do to help, he'll get the idea). The Americanisms are easily replaced whilst reading. The emphasis is on being helpful and that everyone has a place in the new family grouping.
My only criticism is that for the intended age group, a board book would be more robust. This has card pages, not paper, but I don't think they'd withstand a toddler's attempts to turn them himself, which my son always wants to do, and the stitching holding them in place is visible, so the manufacturing quality seems lower than most of the books we've bought. However as I don't expect this to become a favourite read - it's more to serve a purpose - the lower quality may not matter.

Lovely story for nuclear family

I like the overall story helping etc... cute and nice pics. But is very specific with mummy and daddy which I didn't realise. Would have liked the option of just mummy or something that would allow for family diversity. We are mummy and mummy but also wouldn't work for single parents etc..

Dirty diaper or nasty nappy
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on October 26, 2021Verified Purchase
This is a nice physical size of book, hard pages so not too easily torn, and the words come with rhythm and rhyme. BUT "dirty diaper" isn't British English, and "diaper" is not a word a toddler would know. I'd have hesitated if I'd seen that word before I bought the book.

Great idea for big siblings
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on November 20, 2018Verified Purchase
Our second baby "chose" this for our first born and he loves it. It's a simple, well written book which resonates well with toddlers who are adjusting to having a new sibling. It does say "diaper" rather than "nappy," but as my toddler can't read yet, this is easily glossed over.
