About the author

September 2019 UPDATE: New editions with larger, darker type and fresh designs for bestsellers: The Book of Myself and The Book of Us.
I am a PK (preacher's kid) from Texas, grew up in Chicago, and lived in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver, Mexico City, Munich, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before settling back in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have two lives. During the day, I'm the CEO/CFO of a nonfiction publisher, working for Berrett-Koehler in Oakland. We publish books to help our readers create positive change. Our mission is connecting people and ideas to create a world that works for all.
The Book of Myself: A Do-It-Yourself Autobiography, which I wrote with my grandfather Carl Marshall, was the first of our journal series, and remains a bestseller to this day. My wife Kate and I co-authored My Life Map; Picture of Me; What I Love About You; What I Love About You, Mom; and The Book of Us. We are grateful that our journals have been used by so many people to share their love, tell their stories, connect with family members, and grow personally. Please visit us at www.marshallbooks.net

Was really impressed that there is one question per page (wish the font was a bit larger), so lots of room to write memories and feelings on the topics each question posed.
The book is hard-cover, so it will be easily stored as a heirloom when completed, as it just a bit bigger than a soft covered novel.
I flipped through the book after they had been opened on Christmas morning and felt bad for my uncle who was born with a learning impairment - the questions assume that you have had the stero-typical perfect life, having a life with friends and adventures when you were young, gotten married, and had a career.

This book must have been written before the typewriter and shortly after stone and chisel was a form of notetaking.
Just a list of questions and only a few of any use to me.

It is so good I have bought another one as a gift and one for me to complete as I reached a big birthday this year, the big 50 and this is lovely to record details down.
The pages aren't huge but large enough to record sufficient detail and you can pick and choose which sections to complete when you want
