I am really enjoying the dragon shifter world the author created. She has given the dragons some abilities and characteristics that I think are unique and add some intensity to her stories. I love the idea of supernatural beings and humans being fated for each other. I know that not everyone appreciates this in a story, but I think it's incredibly romantic. To me, the idea of there being one special person in the world who is meant to be with you for eternity is totally swoon-inducing.
I loved Finn and Delaney and thought they made a great couple. We were given some good background information about each of them, so it was easy to connect with them and understand what made them tick. For me, this is always an important factor with fiction. If I don't feel like I know and understand the main characters, the story just won't go anywhere for me. This story took off like a rocket and kept going with plenty of action, romance, and suspense all the way through. My ideal kind of book!
All of Finn's enforcer team members are, of course, smokin' hot and I'm assuming will eventually get their own stories. It will be interesting to see how "Scooby and Shaggy" are handled in terms of each one finding his mate. Those two share everything, so. . .
This was a great book and I can't wait to continue with the series.
Really interesting premise and the story was unique. I enjoyed the world building and all the little twists and turns. Strong characters and great chemistry made this such an entertaining read. Highly recommend.
So loving this dragon shifter read, although not loving the mating and it’s process. Finn is an enforcer for his kind, but when they respond to a fire, he comes face to face with Delaney, a fierce spirited woman who turns his world on its head. Will his past dictate his future? Will Delaney’s stalker finally get what’s coming his way? Good story, plot and the characters are great. Loads of angst, some funny banter, and the characters are a family which makes the story. The love scenes are steamy, not crude. The fight scenes are thrilling, I wasn’t keen on the whole alliance determining mates but you have to have a hierarchy that you hate lol. Overall I enjoyed this read, it was an interesting take on dragon shifter lore.
Some very clever ideas. Dragon shifters blending in with fire fighters seems a natural fit. Making female born dragons mules is a smart reason for dragons to mate with human women. The side trip into Graff’s obsession, and Rune’s, was unnecessary to my enjoyment of the story. As a set up for additional books, it is understandable but not needed.
The Boss (Fire Edge Book 2) By Abigail Owen. 5 Stars
Squeal!!! Fin and Delaney Rock!!
This series is turning out to be a page turner you can't put down. These dragons give a whole new name to sexy firefighters, lol. If you've read the first book with Fallon and Maddie and thought their story was great than your gonna love Fin and Delaney!!!
A Dragon mate is most definitely one thing these guys live for but for the mate herself it can be life or death.
I think this is a series I'll read one after the other till I've read all about these enforcer dragons!!!
I have voluntarily read this book and I'm voluntarily leaving a review for it. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
The Boss is the first full-length story in the Fire’s Edge series. In this book we’re introduced to a group of colorful, and sometimes quirky, dragon shifters who control fires started by rogue dragons and bring the offenders to swift justice. Working in the human world they have to take extreme measures not to have their true identities and purpose discovered. One situation that takes priority over all else is when they find a rare human woman who shows dragon sign. She is the only being they can mate with to lengthen their existence. But, only one particular shifter can successfully mate each woman or she’ll die a horrifying, fiery death. Finn has been mated before and knows this better than most. He’s sworn to never be a part of the mating process again. Delaney has to be told the truth of their species after it becomes apparent, she’s showing dragon sign. The question is, who was the dragon who triggered her transformation? Finn or a deranged rogue dragon who’s been stalking her? Which is her true mate? She has no family mark to guide them. This book is fabulous…the series is amazing. If you feel I’ve said too much, you have no idea all that’s in store for you in this story.
Great start to a new series! Love the premise of dragons being 'fire fighters' not only for dragon fire but to the human world, they also support the forest fire teams. Finn is there leader and he is growly and stubborn and very determined not to have his heart break again. He lost one mate and isn't interested in any more tries.
Delaney has had strange fires following her for awhile. When Finn's crew steps in to help at the winery where she works, sparks start to fly between these two. But there is a lot of politics and heartache preventing them fro being together.
Great intro to the whole team and the wonderful setting that the story takes place. Loved the secondary characters. Even the rogue who left the team seems to have more to him than meets the eye.
Looking forward to reading more about this Dragon world.
Finn is a yummy dragon shifter and a hot shot "fire fighter" and Delaney is accidentally setting fires. Finn rescues her and finds out she is a mate, but is she his mate? Or course she is. I'm really over The Alliance and their interfering. Delaney wasn't afraid to fight what she thought was important. All Finn's fellow shifters are hot too. This series is intertwined with Inferno Rising series, but this is a standalone.
