No last names. No life stories. Those were the rules.
Once upon a time a cocky, copper-haired tourist sauntered into Zara's bar. And even though she knew better, Zara indulged in a cure for the small-town blues. It was supposed to be an uncomplicated fling - a few sizzling weeks before he went back to his life, and she moved on. Until an accidental pregnancy changed her life.
Two years later, she's made peace with the notion that Dave No-Last-Name will never be found - until one summer day when he walks into her coffee shop, leveling her with the same hot smile that always renders her defenseless.
Dave Beringer has never forgotten the intense month he spent with prickly Zara. Their nights together were the first true intimacy he'd ever experienced. But the discovery of his child is the shock of a lifetime, and his ugly past puts relationships and family out of reach.
Or does it? Vermont's countryside has a way of nurturing even tortured souls. The fields and the orchards - and hard-won love - are bountiful.

Bountiful is the fourth book in Sarina Bowen's fantastic True North series, about a group of people living in rural (or near rural) Vermont. Zara Rossi is a side character in all three of the first novels, tending bar at The Mountain Goat at first, and then becoming the business partner of the heroine of book 1 when they open a cafe together. Throughout those books, you find out that Zara is pregnant, but not much about how and when and where. Bountiful answers all of those questions in one of the most heartwarming romances I've read this year.
It starts in 2015 with a special summer that Zara spends with Brooklyn Bruisers hockey player Dave Beringer (yes, this is a crossover!), and then fast-forwards to July 2017, when they meet again. And that's all I'll tell you about the premise, because the details and the theming are where this book comes alive. You get a true sense of the family and community that binds both these characters, which is what Sarina Bowen does best. Zara and Dave are both incredibly rounded, with a lot of past baggage, but also an undeniable attraction and tenderness towards each other. It's really, really hard not to love Zara's prickly, take-no-prisoners attitude and how she's softened by her daughter Nicole. And if you're not in love with Dave's easygoing but slightly bossy nature by the end of the book, you might not have heartstrings.
Even though Bowen includes a lot of steamy love scenes (more than in her other books!), for some reason, this one didn't get me as much in terms of the swooniness. I think because I was so invested in the characters finding a way to be together that the love scenes almost became a distraction. This is NOT my usual approach to romance (usually the sexier, the better), so it was a fascinating change for me.
Overall, Bountiful is probably the sweetest, most comforting romances I've read. It's a book that epitomizes fall coziness to me. Even though it takes place during summers, I craved apple cider, orchards, fall leaves, and cozy blankets the whole time reading. I raced through this one in one (very late) night, and you will, too. Worth it!
This is my intro to Sarina Bowen & I'll be sure to read more.

So this one is the story of Zara who we have previously met in the other books when the gang have went for drinks at The Mountain Goat where she manages.
Going back in the story line it tells us how and when she meets Dave Beringer and how he becomes such a big part of her life even though she tries to push him away at every turn!
Loved the way these two completely different worlds collide and manage to mesh together so easily... after lots of drama shocks and problems.
As with every one of Sarinas books the story keeps you hooked and begging for it to end the way you have planned out for the characters lol
Look forward to reading more of this series and really hope that Benito gets a story too!

Two years later Dave returns to Vermont desperate to see the woman he had fantasized over only to find he has a family he didn't know he had.
So begins the story of this couple trying to adjust and fit into each other's lives carrying their own baggage.
I liked the characters and the writing; however my pet hate is always a quick ending with no real details of what their future holds. I'm guessing we may hear more about the pair in future books, I'll keep an eye out and hope so.

Sarina Bowen knocks it out of the park again in this novel where the Brooklyn Bruisers and True North series collide.
Two years ago Zara had a chip on her shoulder after Griffin did the whole "It's not you it's me" speech and then started dating Audrey. She ended up having a short-lived fling with a guy who was holidaying in Vermont with his mates called Dave. Zara didn't want to know who Dave was, what he did for a living or his life story, even though they were together fora few weeks. Dave (or more properly David Beringer of the Brooklyn Bruisers) liked it that way, Zara had no idea who he was and seemed to just like him for being himself.
Unfortunately, after Dave leaves, Zara discovers that she is pregnant and has no way of contacting Dave from Brooklyn. Two years later Zara no longer serves behind the bar at the Mountain Goat, instead she and Audrey run a coffee shop and she has a little girl called Nicole with auburn hair just like her daddy.
David has never forgotten Zara and when he gets the chance to organise the team's summer break he immediately chooses Vermont - imagine his surprise when he finds Zara and she announces he left more than just his expensive watch behind.
I love a good secret baby trope, especially when the man doesn't think he is cut out to be a father and this one doesn't disappoint. Dave came across as a genuine good guy with family issues who nevertheless was pretty much All In with Zara from day one, he obviously had a nurturing spirit and took care of his younger sister Bess and his team-mates.
I loved every part of this, the sumptuous Vermont scenery, the cutsey town, the farm to table attitude of the community, the delectable Dave, sassy Zara and cute-as-a-button Nicole.
But I am really intrigued to find out what is going on with Benito (Zara's twin), I hope/ suspect that he is the subject of Sarina's next book but I can't tell if we have seen his potential love interest.
Easy to read as a stand-alone.

I liked Zara in the previous books. She and Griff Shipley used to have a friends with benefits type relationship but Griff didn't want emotional entanglement until he reconnected with Audrey and then he severed all intimacies with Zara . The writing here is so clever. In Griff and Audrey' s book you could easily be taken down the path of disliking Zara but she is so artfully written that you can't help but like this prickly, heart sore girl with her tough outer armour and beautiful , loyal heart. She protects that heart at all costs....especially when a handsome stranger called Dave rolls into town, and her bed for the Summer. In this book the writing addresses the potentially tricky history between Zara and Griff so well. I have never doubted that Griff and Audrey were made for each other and they are absolutely RIGHT together. Equally, Zara has found her soul mate with Dave, even if they didn't realise it for a good while. But best of all, I love how Zara and Audrey are best friends and business partners and the past is not an issue. This book and its characters just meld and connect so brilliantly.
Dave is my kind of hero. He's alpha , hot, kind and loyal. Watching him become accustomed to fatherhood did things to my heart and ovaries. GORGEOUS!
It was great to see the Shipley clan and to meet more of the Rossi family but this is very much Zara's book. It is sexy, sweet, low angst, high romance and painfully honest too. It's also laugh out loud funny. Yet again I found myself wishing I was in Vermont. I don't think I've ever read any setting in a book that is described as vividly , beautifully and vibrantly as Vermont. I can almost taste the apples!
HEA? Yes
Cheating? No way. These two only have eyes for each other.

The first part of the book tells us about the fling they had and ultimately why Zara couldn't contact Dave to tell him she was pregnant. The second part of the book fast forwards 2 years when Dave reappears only to discover about Nicole and how shocked he is. The book is hilarious, sweet and hard hitting as the three of them try to get to know each other better. They have the major challenge of the fact that Dave is a professional ice hockey player.
As a massive Sarina Bowen fan this book was a dream come true as some of the players from her Brooklyn Bruisers series appear too. This book is simply wonderful and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.
