4.0 out of 5 stars Great series but collector's tin packaging is a let down
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 30, 2017
I bought the 25-disc tin version and I'm only giving feedback here about the packaging. Overall, it's a bit frustrating to get to the actual DVDs. The tin itself has a card outer wrapper which is taped to the tin - you can't get into the tin without removing this and then what do you do with it? On opening the tin there are a couple of plastic bags containing stickers and a bonus disc. The actual DVDs are then in another box, complete with another card outer wrapper which is taped to it - you can't get into that box without removing this and then what do you do with it? In the end, it's a mess of tins, boxes and card wrappers. Also, the additional copy of Series 1 just comes as a separate box shrink-wrapped to the tin. With all that in mind, I wish I'd just gone for the basic 21-disc version really as I suspect that consists of just the same DVD pack in this version (which has 21 discs) and would probably be a lot neater.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking TV to new heights
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 6, 2018
The hype is justified, it's such a well written well acted show, season 1 is a bit uneven but the rest is nothing short of outstanding. The Blu Ray has excellent picture and sound. The show really grips your attention while subtly developing it's main characters. For me season two was my favourite, I loved the dynamics between the consequences and how things slowly unfold. The female characters are sort of bland and uninteresting, but hey the male characters are rich, complex and fascinating. The final season is a little uneven with a slightly wild west feel but things really pick up in the final episode or two. There's also a transition towards a slightly darker look as the series goes on, especially in Walter's home. The programme has bags of character development, you can't take your eyes off these characters and as soon as an episode ends you want the next one. Walter is our protagonist but without spoiling anything you sort of stick with him until the end as he goes on an incredible journey. The show just seems to have no plot holes, everything that could occur to someone seems to have been anticipated by the writers. The cinematography is really distinct too. This was actually shot on film and didn't have an unlimited budget. The wide shots of new mexico are so powerful as our the timelapse shots. The show also became well known for point of view shots, often seen from an objects point of view.

All in all a show as addictive as the drug it's the subject matter of.
