I wasn't sure if we could root for Dean after reading Leo's book. But it turns out... we SUPER can.
This was unexpected. I did NOT expect this from a book... but DAMN.
It was SUCH a Rollercoaster, in the best possible way.
It is so hard to talk about this book without spoilers. BUT let me say this:
- their start was unconventional but I LOVED it
- Snow was the best addition to the characters and really became a great fatherly figure to Dean
- Cat realllly stuck to her guns and I respect that... that being said Dean grovelled like a damn champion and I was HERE FOR IT
- and I LOVED the redemption arc for Dean and family.... It felt so right!!!
- also... the collar situation. OK YES. I LOVED that journey for us. Like a lot 🥵🥵🥵
And finally.... the spy.... I have LOTS of thoughts and theories. Excited to see if I'm right!
Cat is blossoming before our eyes. Not really changing, more like discovering herself, discovering who she is as a person, where she belongs.
Dean’s journey is more about shedding the toxic layers of anger, resentment, and trauma to reach the core of who he is. He will break your heart several times over during the book because it is so raw and real.
The two of them together will send you shockwaves and chills! How they bring out the best in each other is heartwarming albeit sometimes difficult with a few obstacles.
The other big plus for those that are well acquainted with Sophie’s work is the amount of AWESOME cameos we get. It goes full circle! From Snow (not a big surprise there if you're on the FB group) to a few others that you’ll have to read the book to discover ;) (hint: they come from St-Petersburg).
Another masterpiece from my favorite Mafia Queen!
Sophie Lark is one of my favorite authors and with this book, she reminded me why with this book! The passion, the chemistry, the emotion, the mystery this book has it HAD IT ALL! 🔥
Since that shocking ending in the Rebel. I've been so excited to see how Cat will handle this deal with Dean! I was wondering how the Sophie was going to weave their story. The Rough Bad boy with the shy mouse? But wow I loved seeing them both do some growing up & mature throughout the book with scorching hot chemistry. I loved the evolution between them and you felt everything that they were going through. Add in the passion, steaminess, and intenseness Sophie throws in her books it made it impossible to put down!
It was amazing with a killer ending that just made me more crazy for the upcoming book The Spy!! Highly recommend this series!

If you read the last book then you know that Cat has a secret that Dean has found out about and is now blackmailing her. What starts as revenge is becoming so much more. Dean's life hasn't been easy, brought up by a Russian mafia boss who is so bitter and angry he has transferred all that hate on to his son. But the more time Dean is away at school and the more time he is around his family that he has been taught by his father is the enemy, the more what he thought he knew might not be the truth after all. Dean is everything that Cat didn't know she needed or wanted and the more time she is forced to spend with him the more she unpicks Dean's layers to find what truly is hidden below.
But it wouldn't be a Kingmakers book without another twist in the tail as we get ready for The Spy, who is he, what is he and his accomplish up to it, and more importantly who will be left standing
Not sure if I missed a book before this one or just didn’t pick up on clues because I was a bit confused at first but soon got into it.
The relationship that grew between Cat and Dean was so heart warming and emotional at the same time as being hot and kinky lol. And it is early sex experiences for them both learning together, which is so much more believable than the more common authors - making the young lad understand her thoughts and feels better than she does.
Five stars and I’m off to reread it again looking forward to the spy
