Agustina Bazterrica nació en Buenos Aires en 1974. Es licenciada en Artes (UBA). Ganó el Primer Premio Municipal de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires Cuento Inédito 2004/2005 y el Primer Premio en el XXXVIII Concurso Latinoamericano de Cuento Edmundo Valadés (Puebla, México, 2009), entre otros. En 2013 publicó la novela Matar a la niña (Textos Intrusos), y en 2016, el libro de cuentos Antes del encuentro feroz (Alción Editora). Es gestora y curadora cultural, junto con Pamela Terlizzi Prina, del ciclo de arte Siga al Conejo Blanco (www.sigaalconejoblanco.com). Coordina talleres de lectura con Agustina Caride.

Agustina Bazterrica was born in Buenos Aires in 1974. She has a degree in Arts (UBA).

She won the First Municipal Prize of the City of Buenos Aires Unpublished Story 2004/5, the First Prize in the XXXVIII Latin American Short Story Contest "Edmundo Valadés", Puebla, Mexico, 2009, the Clarín Novel Prize 2017, the Ladys of Horror Fiction 2021 (USA), among others.

She was a jury member of literary contests, among which the National Fund for the Arts Award, 2021, and the 12th Itaú Digital Short Story Award, 2022, stand out.

In 2013 she published the novel "Matar a la niña" (Textos intrusos). In 2016 she published the book of short stories "Antes del encuentro feroz" (Alción Editora) and in December 2017 the novel Cádaver exquisito (Tender is the flesh) was published by the Clarín-Alfaguara publishing label, with 8 published editions. The television series of this book is in the works. In 2020 Alfaguara published a new compilation of his stories with the title "Nineteen claws and a black bird".

Her books have been translated into more than 20 languages.

In 2023 she finished a new soon-to-be-published novel.

She was manager and cultural curator of the Follow the White Rabbit Art Cycle together with Pamela Terlizzi Prina from 2015 to 2020

She coordinates reading workshops.

L'Argentine Agustina Bazterrica a jusqu'ici plutôt pratiqué le conte (à côté d'activités en arts plastiques). Cet ouvrage, son second roman, la situe dans la continuité de plusieurs de ses compatriotes (Bioy Casares et "La guerre des cochons", Cortázar et "Les gagnants", par exemple), capables de concevoir (et de montrer) une des possibilités inquiétantes dormantes dans notre réalité. Ici, c'est l'extinction des espèces animales dont nous nous nourrissons qui débouche, non sur une société "végane" mais sur un cannibalisme institutionnel. H.G.Wells l'a déjà fait ("The Time Machine"), au profit des Morlocks (métaphore de la revanche des ouvriers sur les bourgeois). Bazterrica, loin de la lutte des classes, montre un "homo homini proteina" (plutôt "femina homini proteina", d'ailleurs) d'autant plus glaçant qu'elle use d'un style très dépouillé, où les actes, gestes et paroles des personnages sont rapportés avec une précision, une clarté et une sécheresse proches d'un rapport de labo (elle m'a fait penser à Houellebecq) et où le narrateur (narratrice ?) s'abstient d'intervenir. Après lecture, comme ni la romancière ni le narrateur n'ont la gentillesse de nous dire ce qu'ils attendent de nous, lecteurs et lectrices sont livrés aux pensées suscitées par le récit. Moi, c'était : "En sommes-nous vraiment déjà là ?"
