Robert McCammon does it again, delivering another fast paced, highly entertaining thrill ride in the ongoing Matthew Corbett series. Described as a "colonial James Bond" Matthew finds himself up to his eyeballs in danger as he joins with "bad man" Julian Devane in the hopes of stealing back a nefarious book of poisons from Satanic Crime Lord Cardinal Black. McCammon is at the top of his game here and the pages fly by. It nicely sets up the final two books in the series and I'm very excited to see where this series goes. A great series, Cardinal Black is highly recommended.
