Having been considerably let down by the previous Charlotte Holmes book, The Last of August, I felt that I should hop right into the third installment, The Case For Jamie, and see how I got on.

Now that I have completed the audiobook, I can safely say that this book was competent; An improvement over the second novel, but didn't nearly reach the level of excitement of the first.

Personally, I felt that it was the alternating narrators that kept this book from reaching its full potential for me; it was hard to keep track of two different, but related stories told by Jamie and then Charlotte. I had to start the novel from the beginning more than once to make sure that I knew what was actually happening, yet I still had difficulties keeping track of the two main characters.

Other than that little nitpick, I don't have terribly much to say about The Case For Jamie, it was a reasonably entertaining story.

I am delighted to hear that there will be a book four coming soon, and once again highly recommend this YA series for other Sherlockians.

This may be my favourite book in the series. And, without giving anything away, the epistolary ending made my heart grow three sizes.

So much happened in this book that left me with my mouth hanging open. A lot of loose threads come together, and it just blew me away, especially after book 2. I love the banter between Charlotte and James. It just feels so real and so intelligent and fun. This series just continues to be one of the best series of books I've read in a very long time. Can't recommend this series enough! I love it.

This bool explains carefully the ending of book 2 and has a satisfactory conclusion. Charlotte running around the world on a fake passport aged 17 isn't entirely unrealistic, but Jamie getting away with wounding someone, however bad, with a gun like Watson, is. Book 4 is out and it finishes the story well.

I hate to put a 2 star rating on this book, especially since I liked the other two. I thought that in the mystery department was a bit lacking. For example: on the other two novels, I couldn't guess the ending, and it kept me in the dark until the very end. That's a good mystery.
Here, I thought Charlotte was being a little to dramatic (even for her), and Jamie was being a bit obnoxious (even for him). It's as if every fault the characters had, suddenly became their number one characteristic. It was very tiring. At the same time I couldn't stop reading. I wanted to know the ending soooo very bad (even when I was almost sure about what was going to happen).
What I did love was Charlotte's POV for most of the book! It was totally unexpected and I'm glad we finally got a chance to look inside that girl's head.
The ending did not disappoint. The book had a lot of shortcomings, but it was ok, not a bad way to end the trilogy. I just wished it had been stronger. I feel like the author had a lot of room to play with and didn't.
