An excerpt from this DeMar DeRozan biography:
The shooting guard position has always been one of the more difficult spots to play in the NBA. Shooting guards are required to be among the best scorers on their team since their primary role of the team is to, of course, shoot and make their shots. While scoring the ball may not sound like the most difficult task, what makes the shooting guard a difficult position in the NBA is the level of skill required to be elite.
As far as the history of the league is concerned, there have not been as many great shooting guards as centers, point guards, and forwards due to the relative difficulty the position requires for the player to be elite. But even though there have not been many great shooting guards in the NBA's history, the best of the best happen to be those that play that position.
Since the dawn of the league, the first great shooting guard was the NBA logo himself, Jerry West. Then there came guys like George Gervin and Pete Maravich during the dark 70's era of the league. During the 80's and 90's, Reggie Miller and Clyde Drexler dominated the position. Those that came after them were Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Vince Carter, and Dwyane Wade. Michael Jordan, the greatest player to have ever played the game, is known as a shooting guard. There have not been a lot of great shooting guards, but they were always the best of their respective eras.
What made those great shooting guards truly elite were combinations of factors that not a lot of players are gifted with. The best shooting guards always had size.

An excerpt from the book:
Colin Kaepernick continued to develop his overall athleticism by becoming a three-sport athlete at Pitman High School in Turlock. He played football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and baseball in the spring. Two of the three would eventually become his standout sports.
Kaepernick didn’t have to do much as a quarterback at first. In fact, the Pride was known as a running team with a few powerful backs. In his game as a starter on September 9, 2004, Kaepernick only had five attempts with two completions – one of which was a 21-yard pass for a first quarter touchdown. But the team was led by junior-back Anthony Harding’s 233 yards, and senior-back Mark Runyan’s 117 yards as Pitman combined for 471 rushing yards in a 46-36 win at home against Kennedy High School (Sacramento).
One week later, Kaepernick began to show how good of an arm he had when he went 14-for-20 for 203 yards and three touchdowns in a 19-7 victory over Johansen High School (Modesto) on September 17, 2004.
The games would flip between whether the Pride would focus more on the rushing attack, or let Kaepernick have the opportunities to throw. His final numbers at the end of the season were 1,051 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Kaepernick helped the Pitman Pride to an 8-3 record in his junior season that ended on November 19, 2004 against West High School from Tracy, California - a state playoff game where they lost 35-21. Kaepernick was 14-for-27 for 171 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Learn the Incredible Story of 90s Basketball Superstar Reggie Miller!
Read on your PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet or Kindle device!
In Reggie Miller: The Remarkable Story of One of 90s Basketball's Sharpest Shooters, you'll read about the inspirational story of basketball's premier shooting guard, Reggie Miller. Reggie Miller broke the record books during his incredible eighteen-year NBA career. In an age filled with greats like Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon and John Stockton, Reggie played in one of the most exciting eras of modern basketball. While the Indiana Pacers failed to win a ring during Reggie’s tenure, they played some of the most spectacular playoff series in NBA history and made it to the NBA Finals in 1999-2000 before ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Lakers.
A hall of famer, Reggie Miller had one of the smoothest strokes that basketball has ever seen. While newer players like Steph Curry may statistically be the best shooters to play the game, Reggie Miller still easily remains a top shooting guard in NBA history.
Here is a preview of what is inside this book:
- Early Life and Childhood
- College Years at UCLA
- Reggie Miller’s NBA Career
- Miller’s Personal Life
- Reggie’s Impact on Basketball and Beyond
- Reggie Miller’s Legacy
An excerpt from the book:
The NBA has two kinds of star players. There are those who are always in the ear of their opponents, teammates, referees, fans, and anybody near the basketball court, telling everyone how good they are. Those types of players have a knack of getting opponents out of their rhythm and pumping their team up. Other players would rather lead by example and let their game do the talking for them, believing that sinking a buzzer-beating three-point shot says more than telling someone that you have got skills. They’d rather methodically kill you on the court by destroying your defense and by making you look silly while trying to guard them. Then there is Reggie Miller.
Perhaps no other player in NBA history has combined the two types of players more so than Miller. One cannot think of Miller without harkening back to some of his more famous on-court escapades, such as his back-and-forth banter with movie director Spike Lee in Madison Square Garden, overtly giving the choke sign by visibly wrapping his hands around his neck for everyone to see, bowing to all sides of the arena in a mocking manner and even head-butting a player (see Starks, John, 1993 NBA Playoffs). Miller relished road games and playing the role of the villain so much that his 1999 autobiography was titled I Love Being the Enemy. That’s simply the type of player Miller was. Some players try to mentally block out road crowds. Reggie loved hearing the boos, and he fed off that negativity.
But focusing on Miller’s flamboyance would be a disservice to his hard work, dedication to his craft, and high basketball intelligence. It would also ignore the clutch play that became a signature of Miller’s game; the blood running through his veins was perhaps colder than any basketball player not named Michael Jordan. If there was a player who had ice-cold poisonous blood running through his veins, it was Reggie Miller.

An INFJ is someone who is usually well aware of the influence they have on the people around them. This, if combined with the tendency for organizing, planning and structuring, and high moral values, makes great leaders out of them.
Being an INFJ, you might be more concentrated on people in your organization than on taking the firm itself to its bright and prosperous future. Thanks to your personal and empathetic approach, you can find a common language with others more easily than most introverts can. Because you address people through your Extraverted feeling, and you are guided by Introverted intuition, you may seem even more accessible to others than you really are.
Even though you probably do not directly seek popularity, fame or leading positions, like most INFJs, they do seem to find you anyway. You can be a great leader, if you are guided by good inspiration. In this case, you “infect” everyone with your irresistible trust in the righteousness of your mission and your enthusiasm. You always try to help others see your vision and let them decide whether to follow you on their own, rather than force them into obedience.

Each Myers-Briggs personality type has talents, which, if used properly, can make a positive impact on the lives of others. As an ESFP, you are unique in that the level of generosity and genuineness present in you make you a person that others are likely to flock to.
As an ESFP, one of your life goals is to experience as much as possible. In order to accomplish this, you are more than willing to step outside of your comfort zone. You will be sure to take others along with you on this journey and will have no issues with being the first to try anything. This also plays a part in social situations, as you are known for speaking your mind regardless of the situation. Of course you will try to do it in a tactful way, but there are times that this does not occur. When it happens, you can come across as more rude than bold to more sensitive listeners. Still, this characteristic also gives you quite the advantage when it comes to leadership positions.

An excerpt from this basketball biography book on Klay Thompson:
The most lethal weapon in the NBA is the three-point shot. The three-point line has been growing in popularity since its inception during the 1979-80 NBA season. It was rarely utilized back in the ’80s but became a secondary threat in the ’90s when shooters such as Chris Mullin and Reggie Miller made the shot famous. During the 2000s, its usage increased with run-and-gun systems such as Don Nelson’s Golden State Warriors and the Mike D'Antoni Phoenix Suns. However, the popular belief back then was that the three-point shot was not a reliable weapon to be used by championship teams.
But in today's modern era of basketball, the three-point shot has been used more than it has ever been in the past. The best teams in the league adopt the three-point shot as a primary weapon today where the concept of pace-and-space has been widely used. The Miami Heat won back-to-back titles by surrounding LeBron James with shooters. The San Antonio Spurs then attained a title in 2014 by spacing the floor well with shooters while moving the ball so quickly that defenses were not able to react.

An excerpt from the book:
The NBA has had its share of dominant players that could lord over defenders and push around grown men inside the paint with ease. As they say, the NBA is a big man's league, and some of the best players the league has ever seen were among the greatest and most dominant men to have ever set foot on a hard wood floor. And wherever those dominant players went, success would usually follow.
One of the NBA's pioneering dominant players was George Mikan, who played for what was then the Minneapolis Lakers back in the 50's. At 6'10" and 250 pounds, Mikan would not be considered one of the biggest players in today's era. But back then, he was already among the largest in the league. Nobody could stop him in the paint on his way to five NBA titles.
The first truly dominant player in league history was Wilt Chamberlain. Standing above seven feet tall and weighing nearly 300 pounds of lean muscle mass, “Wilt the Stilt” used his height and strength advantage to bully players down under the basket. Chamberlain was rumored to be so strong that he could easily lift a man over 200 pounds using only one arm. He even once dunked the ball so hard that it broke an opposing player's toe. All of this strength and size were vital for Wilt Chamberlain to score 100 points in a single game. He even averaged over 50 points a game during one season while holding five of the top ten scoring averages in a single season. He was a man among boys back in the 60's era. Wilt would end up with two NBA titles, which he won during the twilight years of his career.
During the 80's and 90's, Karl Malone would use his bodybuilder strength and muscle to push opposing power forwards around when he bulled his way to easy baskets inside the paint. Because of how well-conditioned and dominant of a player Malone was, he was able to stay active until the age of 40. Eventually, Malone finished second in most points ever scored in a career.

An excerpt from the book:
Great leaders can come from any of the 16 personality types. However, INTPs are known for being great leaders. Probably some of the most famous leaders were considered extroverts, but history has shown that some of the best leaders were actually introverts. Some of these include: the United States President, Barak Obama; Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and; Founder and former CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates. Below are five reasons why INTPs make great leaders.
1. They Make Decisions Based on Theories and Facts
INTPs are often not hasty thinkers and love utilizing theory and facts to make decisions. They want to ensure that their decisions were made based on facts as they are thinkers and not feelers. Because of this, they always want to make sure that they make the absolutely best decisions and will use theory and thought to help make these decisions.
2. They are Great Visionary Leaders
When leading a team, INTPs tend to focus more into the future or their goals and make decisions that help in the realization of these goals. They love setting a vision for others to follow. When setting up a vision, they will use logical and concrete facts about the environment and determine what works best. Because of this, they are able to share their vision well with their subordinates.

An excerpt from the book:
People with ESTP personality are natural leaders for several reasons. Primarily, an ESTP person is unlikely to wait for others to assume the leadership role. As creatures of action, ESTPs want things to happen immediately. Waiting for someone else to make things happen goes against the natural inclination of the ESTP person, who will assume the leadership role rather than wait for someone else to do so. After the mantle of leadership is acquired, their personality becomes even more of an asset in leading the team. Just as they are unlikely to wait for another person to assume control, so too are ESTPs unlikely to wait for someone else to solve a problem or start a project. ESTPs need new experiences and constant stimulation from outside sources. This means they will take up new projects and seek to solve old problems with little to no prodding. They require very little urging from others to accomplish tasks.
In addition to their quick responses and advanced work ethic (if only to keep themselves from being bored), the ESTP person also has incredible people skills that are, likewise, beneficial for leadership positions. The ESTP person is a social person who enjoys interacting with others and receiving feedback from such exchanges. An excerpt from the book:
ENTPs do more than lead people -- they lead the world. They are strategic, visionary thinkers who can do amazing things in leadership roles. They are creative, innovative, and good at spotting patterns and trends. As such, they can be impressive, large-scale change makers.
The ENTP leader does not micromanage. They are big picture thinkers and do not want to be slowed down or bothered with details. As such, they will give their subordinates tasks that they expect to be completed independently. An employee might aggravate them with many questions about the details of their work, which the ENTP considers insignificant.
