Even though I read some of her previous books, including The Lean, I really appreciated this one. It is very complete and encompasses all aspects of protein choices on health, the environment and the animals. Also, Bruce Friedrich contribution is very interesting and enlightening.

This book provides reasons why (mostly disease avoidance & anti-animal cruelty) one would want to refrain from consuming meats, dairy & eggs. Contains stats on the US & other countries eating the Standard American Diet and increased incidence of disease due to that diet. Many concepts are the same as expounded by a plant based lifestyle, which I wholly support. Tips on plant based shopping & political involvement. About 1/3 of the book is recipes, but no color photos. Overall, an average book on the subject for one familiar with these concepts & lifestyle. However, for a first time reader on clean eating, it would probably be a good book to start their knowledge.
