5.0 out of 5 stars A Roadmap to Competing in a Post-Pandemic World
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 17, 2022

I originally decided to buy this book because I know there will continue to be volatility in a post-pandemic world. Those individuals or companies that understand how to anticipate change and pivot towards new opportunities will be the ones that survive in this new reality.

As a public company executive as well as a startup founder, I focus a lot of my time on team productivity and culture. I have attended many seminars and read numerous books on organizational strategy & change. But, this book stands out to me because it follows through. The book begins with the author’s concept of “radical adaptability” which is described and backed by research to ultimately provide leaders with a framework they can use to manage change and culture within an ever remote and distributed workforce. And, on top of that, the authors share lessons from complex challenges faced by senior leaders across a variety companies, in order to solidify the theory of “radical adaptability.”

This ambitious book is a worthwhile journey to transform your way of thinking as well as transform the way you work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Future proofing our workforce!

This is a fantastic read for all those looking to understand how we can future proof our workforce. Change is the only constant. It applies in virtually every aspect of our lives but yet we’ve been educated in a way that treats us as clones of one another, all working the same 9-5 job from post HS til retirement (or death whichever comes first). It’s a remnant of the post WWII mindset of standardization of everything. In 2022, we know clearly that model no longer serves the American workforce let alone our future generations of American workers.

Kian and Keith have created an amazingly solid blueprint of how we can futureproof our workforce. One which welcomes and encourages change and can be utilized to our benefit!

5.0 out of 5 stars AN ESSENTIAL READ for any leader wanting to level up themselves, their team and their org

Most companies are struggling to think through all the elements of how we reform and perform in this current/post pandemic world. This book provides a blueprint on how to collaborate, build trust, drive creativity and thus innovation and ultimately align your stakeholders (most importantly your employees) on a set of new bold visions for your company. I found this book challenging my thinking, the status quo, my want to stay comfortable using the same old tools and ways of working that allowed me and my teams to survive the past 2+ years. This book is my new north star companion, helping me to not only navigate, but provide a structure to my organization that will enable us to thrive.

2.0 out of 5 stars Time Consuming & Mostly Cringe with a Few Insights

If you’ve remotely paid attention to what has happened socially, economically, or politically since Covid-19 hit America, there is nothing new here. Keep searching elsewhere. This book is nowhere near as good as Never Eat Alone (five stars).

The book read like a team building workshop by HR. Corporate cringe like DIE (diversity, inclusion, & equality) and other feel good slogans felt forced to keep the Twitter/Outrage/Cancel mob at bay. If you’re a solopreneur or someone looking to get an edge, read Scott Galloway’s Post Corona for more practical advice.

I’m a big fan of Ferrazi’s work in general, but the book didn’t contain anything new other than the concept of crowdsourcing your network’s expertise to problem-solve. I’d say that made the book somewhat tolerable, albeit much of it is a word salad of empty calories.

5.0 out of 5 stars The future of work is now

This book provides a clear roadmap on how to tackle today's unprecedented challenges. Managing a business while battling a pandemic, natural disasters caused by climate change, and strained supply chain networks, is challenging even to the most experienced entrepreneurs or Fortune 500 CEOs. I'm so happy I found this book! Chapter 4, in particular, struck a cord with me. Focusing on team members' health and well-being while we navigate these challenging times. I'm not in business to just make a profit - I love building organizations and overcoming challenges with my teams. Making sure we all reach the finish line together is absolutely critical. Thank you for your insights and actionable recommendations.

Highly recommend this book and its incredible insights into the new age of work. Every entrepreneur and leader can learn a great deal from the authors about how to embrace the new way of managing teams and building effective strategies for growth.

This book is also highly relevant as we shift to remote work and new technologies that have changed how all of us are engaging with our companies and colleagues. As a business owner, it was very relevant for me to prepare for how our workforce has changed since the pandemic.

I understand why it is the best business book of the year. Great value packed with research and relevant date. Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great playbook for the new normal in business!

Coming from a world of strategy consulting, I have observed first hand the challenges that a professional services organization experienced amid the pandemic. Processes, workflows and the way we collaborate had to be rapidly shifted to adapt to the new reality, and there is really no way back… only forward with the new norm.

Competing in the New World of Work masterfully describes the insights and best practices from the extensive research across the leading organizations. I particularly enjoyed the chapters addressing the culture (creating an organization in which people are encouraged to bring their full selves to workplace) and asynchronous collaboration. Great read!
