Isabel is an award-winning science writer and the author of more than 150 books about science and nature for young audiences. Her critically-acclaimed picture book Moth: An Evolution Story, illustrated by Daniel Egnéus, was awarded the 2020 AAAS Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books. Isabel also writes features for children’s science magazines The Week Junior Science+Nature and Whizz Pop Bang, and outreach projects.

Isabel grew up in a low income, single-parent family and attended five different state schools before studying Human Sciences at the University of Oxford. She has devoted her career to inspiring children from diverse backgrounds to pursue science careers, including a research degree at the University of Cambridge exploring science education.

Moth: An Evolution Story won the AAAS Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books, and Isabel's books have also been shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize, the SLA Information Book Awards, the Deutscher Jugendliterature Preis, the Association of Science Education Book of the Year, the English 4–11 Picture Book Awards and the Blue Peter Book Awards.

Did you know there are about 85 million pet cats in the USA? How about the fact there is one breed of cat that wags its tail when happy?! Written for children, this book instructs them to ask a parent if help is needed or permission for items to be used. Paw print icons tell you the length of time a project should take.
1 paw print - 30 minutes
2 paw prints - up to 1 hour
3 paw prints - over an hour

Can you draw a perfect cat portrait? This book's instructions will make it easier. I like the way you don't need a lot of special purchase items. For example: the Elegant Jewelry Holder just requires flour, salt, water, toothpicks, paints, paintbrushes, black marker and glue. Most homes will have these supplies on hand. Make a rug with no loom required! FANTASTIC!

Do you have a cat? Maybe he/she will enjoy the cardboard cat den?

Templates needed are available on the website link provided. Scroll to bottom of the provided page and there you will find a downloadable link to the PDF document. Although in a FIXED format on the Kindle meaning that you cannot enlarge the text size as normal, this book is still very readable on my Kindle Paperwhite. Excellent book and highly recommended.

This book has a lot of interesting knowledge about cats and some fun stuff to make. You can make a jewelry holder and your own personalized scratching post. You can also make an interesting cardboard castle. Also how to plant a cat garden. It can include, catnip, oat grass, wheatgrass, barley or parsley. You will need pretty pots you have purchased or painted yourself, soil, seeds, and saran wrap. i have made these before. Cats really do eat and appreciate the garden. Have fun and enjoy your fur baby. The website works to get you downloadable templates for the projects. I borrowed this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
