The story picks up where Court of Ravens and Ruin left off, and, it seems that the Shadow Court is living up to its reputation as a hostile and dangerous environment for human thralls. Add in a Queen who’s the personification of devious, diabolical and demented, and what hope can Reyna have for survival, let alone escape?

This adult fantasy romance is very imaginative, and well written with compelling characters. There’s plenty of drama, mystery, danger, and secrets, along with several steamy, fantasy-dreams. I’m looking forward to the next installment – Court of Monsters and Malice.

Wow, what a book and what an ending.

My previous review pointed out the obnoxious attitude of the MFC. Thank goodness she's gained some self awareness.
There is clear character development here and that enables me to enjoy this book so much more than the first.
As for the story...
A slow progression towards each other, both in terms of trust and romance flows naturally.

The realisation that they are equals and need each other to survive is heartening.

However there's only so many plans you can have to deal with crazy relatives.
In fact if murder is not an option all you can do is brace.

As for the ending 😱😤💥

This is an absolute page turning exciting story, it picks up where the first book left of. I really love the characters, they all have unique personality traits and intriguing things you learn about them throughout the series. One of my favourite things about this book is it not only has a refresher of book 1, but it also has a beautifully designed map and character art at the front of the book. I also love the switch between both main characters perspectives, it really helps me relate to the characters better. This series is full of unexpected events, and many great twists. I am very much looking forward to the next instalment.
