I’m not understanding all of the positive reviews here. I received mine yesterday and plugged it in and put it to level 1 which appeared to do nothing. I then put it to level 2 and it was quiet and definitely working but only minimally. When I set it to level 3, it was nuts! So, SO loud and vibrated my nightstand which, in turn, vibrated the entire floor. The tenant downstairs said she could hear it. Then after a couple more minutes it started moving 😂 It was vibrating so intensely that it was sliding backward off the nightstand.
I’m returning this tomorrow. Wow.

First of all, this is the same machine as the newer version with the circular vent on the front cover, but I preferred this look. I had never heard of Coway and bought this largely based on its glowing reviews year after year by the Wirecutter staff. I had a hospital-grade home air purifier years ago, and this one outperforms it for about 1/5 the price. Every feature is well designed, making it extremely easy to live with and maintain. I keep it set on Eco mode (the energy-efficient form of Auto) by pressing the Ion button for 5 seconds. Cleaning it is a breeze, a welcome surprise. I'm really, really happy with this after ~6 weeks of daily use to protect against the "buttheads" chainsmoking under my leaky windows.

We bought two of these because we were having construction done in our home and were concerned about dust, etc.. as well as having workers in the house, particularly because one of us has compromised lungs and a compromised immune system. We have been very pleased with their performance. They are very responsive to odors and to what I assume are construction particles in the air. We haven’t had to change the filters yet but so far, so good. We are very happy with our purchase.
