Review

A Best Book of 2019 from: Kirkus * Publishers Weekly * New York Public Library   "The eco-friendly lesson goes down easy."--New York Times Book Review  "Readers come away with the idea that nourishing and supporting one another is the only way to change the world. A kid-friendly yet profound confection."–Kirkus, STARRED review   ? "Fans of Accident! will be happy that Tsurumi’s mastery of detail, humor, and clear-eyed empathy continues in this wholly original and moving affirmation of one crab’s power to bring a community together."–Publishers Weekly, STARRED review   "While entertaining, as evidenced by the playful title which recalls appetizers at a seafood restaurant, it is withserious intent and empathy that these comical comics (graphite on vellum with digital coloring) successfully communicate a theme of community and environmentalism."–Booklist   "A sweet and hopeful tale—highly recommended for one-on-one and small group sharing."–School Library Journal --This text refers to the hardcover edition.

Andrea Tsurumi (they/them) is an author, illustrator and cartoonist originally from New York who now lives with their spouse and dog in Philadelphia. A gigantic text + image nerd, they studied sequential storytelling for an English BA at Harvard and an illustration MFA at the School of Visual Arts. While working in publishing for a several years, they threw themself into their two loves: indie comics and children’s books. Their first book, ACCIDENT! was an NPR Great Read and their second book, CRAB CAKE, won the Vermont Red Clover Book Award. Their book in the Elephant & Piggie Love Reading Series, I'M ON IT!, was a Kirkus Best of the Year 2021. Children's books they've illustrated include the KONDO & KEZUMI series, SHARKO & HIPPO, NOT YOUR NEST, and MR. WATSON'S CHICKENS. When they're not inventing croissant-based animals, they like reading about ordinary and ridiculous history.
