They are much smaller in person than in photo i thought they were longer. Say and inch and a half to thee quarters long. also they are less intense in their colouing than i expected. The pictures suggested an intense purple but the were pale or so dark you couldn't tell if it was black or purple

The uniformity of these had me wondering... no two lapis lazuli pieces would ever be the same, and most of these do look alike... too much alike. Real lapis, even of quality, will have white steaks and silver or gold looking mica in it (unless it is a highly priced solid blue). This led me to the testing for dye test... I rubbed alcohol (you can use acetone too) on these with a cotton swab, and the blue die did come off onto the cotton tip. There you have it! Dyed. I do not know what the matrix material is, whether it be glass, quartz, howlite (I doubt) or maybe even lower quality lapis (which is still lapis, and dying lower end is an acceptable practice, but usually mentioned if it has been treated). The other tell is the temperature... real rocks will remain cold to touch for a long while, even when held. Plastic will usually feel room temp, and glass may start cool, but warm up quickly. These were inbetween... they warmed up when held, but not real fast, so they may be a dyed stone.
These may be pretty, and if someone likes the look and feel of them that may be all that matters to the buyer, but I think the properties of this stone, and others, should be disclosed in the sale/order page. Whether it is real (low grade) and dyed, or made of some other material and dyed, it is fairly hard to tell the difference in most instances. Without disclosure I think that this just isn't fair to the buyer.
