This is an amazing book for those who like horror or things that are weird. The sub genres of the stories vary so much from body horror to fairytales and ghost stories. They are so interesting and most have some social commentary as well. Highly recommended but not for kids or more conservative folks

Not to read before bed

A very strange, scary but never the less thought provoking set of stories each with a moral behind them.
Covering subjects such as beauty, pregnancy and child birth, consumerism, love, revenge, every action has a reaction and the meaning of life itself.
My favourite story Home Sweet Home. A modern take on your classic haunted house. Some stories are purely fantastical in nature while others are slightly more realist. None of these are for kids. Proceed with caution.

I picked up this book because of the cover, and quite simply, it is stunning. This is a tricky collection to write about because it contains so much. Each story is so different and the collection spans multiple genres. The darker, more disturbing stories are at the start—mostly—and I have to say these were my favourites. I definitely enjoyed the first two-thirds of the stories, where we’ve got the absurd, dark, weird, creepy stories. I found the ones at the end to be much slower and more contemporary, not really what I’d been looking for as I’m drawn to horror.
Out of all the stories, the first one was probably my favourite. Just the first sentence is amazing, and I still find myself thinking about the monster made from body matter that rises out of the toilet and forces its maker to swap places with it.

Fantasia suja e sublime
Reviewed in Brazil 🇧🇷 on January 17, 2023Verified Purchase

Book nominated to Internationa Booker Prize 2022 - and deservedly!
Reviewed in Poland 🇵🇱 on April 27, 2022Verified Purchase
Bora Chung's imagination is truly amazing. She takes a piece of well-known reality and changes it into something totally new and ... weird! Reading her stories is eye-opening in that respect that unexpectedly, you're impelled to think of normal stuff in completely new context and this widens your experience and reception of reality. Personally, I devoured this book long before it got its nomination, and now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it to win the International Booker Prize. The competition is tough, though. In my opinion "Cursed Bunny" is one of those books that gives you pleasure while reading, stays with you for a long time and enriches you as a human being. Bizarre, but in the good sense!
