I have loved the books from this author so far and this newest offering is no exception. Lots of great characters to dive into and some of the most fun empire building I have read. Reads really fast paced but doesn't lose the well developed characters that I enjoy from this author. MCs in this genre tend to be aggressive to the point of being off-putting some times, but this book does a really good job of making him assertive without coming across as an ass in his dealing with others. Some fun magic with a variety of different ways to use the worlds power to explore though the different users. Looking forward to the next entry, apparently this is working off of older source material so hopefully they are able to keep these coming quickly because I'm hooked.

Demon's Throne is a neat piece of world-building. It's an interesting opening, and one I found very intriguing. I'm looking forward to more, and seeing how this plays out.

The characters are different; not cookie cutter - and it's done in a way that adds depth and interest for me.

If you've enjoyed the other novels by KD Robertson; then give it a shot. It has much of the same writing style, and is very enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book very much, I decided to read it after stumbling across the author brilliant Heretic Spellblade series and enjoyed this story just as much.

This book sets up the premise of what promises to be a very enjoyable kingdom building novel with a developed and competent MC that proved to be a treat to read.

One aspect I especially enjoyed is the authors ability to show that the MC is clearly extremely powerful and knowledgeable at his peak while limiting him in a way that is not frustrating in order to protect the stories sense of suspense. That is a difficult line to walk as lean too far one way and the story because boring as the MC steamrolls everything too easily and too far the other and the MC becomes frustrating to read as he becomes too limited despite us knowing he could do much better. This author has successfully thread that line in a way steeped in its own mysteries that further books promise to unravel making me look forward to further books and more developments.

He side characters are also enjoyable to read, they all have their own distinct personalities and goals, both men and women. I especially like how the author wove their species and cultural proclivities into their characteristics and backstory.

If I had any complaints it would be the lack of a second book after that light cliffhanger ending haha.

All in all I enjoyed this a lot and look forward to reading more

Battles, politics and some labyrinth diving. The MC take a little getting used to as he is very much goal orientated and morals and likeability are just tools to him. It makes him hard to relate but It suited the story and by the end I was enjoying his character along with the story
