The window regulator worked, however, the auto function seems to not work all the time, or it works going up but not down. However that being said, it direct OEM fit, and definitely use this video on the how too for your BMW. This worked on my 01 E46 325i.
Dorman makes a solid window regulator. There are aftermarket regulators that fail quickly under normal use. Dorman is NOT one of those. Like the original BMW regulator (or any other), it's not bulletproof. Thoughtlessly lowering a frozen-over window will make short work of the best of them. I'll try to remember that, but if I do it again, I'll buy another one just like it.
This is the third time I've addressed the front driver side regulator of this BMW. The problem I believe is that the original Bosch electric motor driving the plastic gears are grinding it out or possibly on it's way out. Replacing the entire mechanism with this TAIWAN made Dorman was a great idea. Now the window moves up and down way better than before! There are many notes about making sure to clean the grooves or even put lubricants on the window tracks or wells of automatic power windows. These do not work as a maintenance measure at all. Over time, the plastic parts of a BMW and the electric components begin to fail.
I have a BMW 2000 323I Wagon. I used this part to fix the driver side door window. Was easy to personally exchange the parts in the door and is still working 3 weeks later. Shows no signs of working incorrectly.
