I was wary about using the foam roller that came with the Herculiner kit. Others suggested that it tends to come apart leaving chunks of foam on the surface. I opted to give one of these loop design rollers a try. I was no impressed. It too was coming apart and I didn't care for the overly textured finish. I moved on to the foam Herculiner roller as was not impressed either. In the end I tried a regular foam roller from the home store which still left a nice texture without being overly bumpy.
This roller is a great replacement for the JUNK rollers included with the Raptor Bed Liner Kit.... it will actually last, I used mine thru 2 complete bottles and it was still in working conditions. It takes a bit to get it soaked but left a good texture comparable to the Raptors
The roller is horrible, it pushed the coating around more then it evenly applied it. The coating has small pieces in it and the roller in this kit just doesn't work as it should. I would just go buy a better suited roller at the home depot or lowes for $3 or $4. I used this kit to apply the coating on the floor of my golf cart to replace the standard rubber mat. It should of been an easy task for this roller but took much more effort then it should have because of the roller. I ended up using a brush to get the texture i wanted and it looked great when it was done.
It gets the job done but the actual handle to the roller is the cheapest built plastic handle I have ever seen. There was a hole to put a screw in and my hole didn't go in far enough so I ended up having to drill the hole out to make it work. Half way through my project the handle broke at the hole... i will find another product that is better built and will never buy this again.
Though constructed well and the package had useful tools, I didn't work as expected. The roller did not cover like I wanted, and it tended to splash back to me. The brush was useful and my eventual tool that I used. Luckily, I had a box of disposable brush just like the 3 inch brush.
Bought this specifically to apply bed liner on a couple wheelbarrows. Brush worked great. The roller, not so much. I'm not sure if I didn't have enough volume for the roller or what. As soon as I tried the roller I knew I hd to brush it on, short pot life for the liner material. I got a nice coating with the brush, probably all I would use next time.
