doesnt work with standard size fridge

The seal around my fridge door is about 23mm, the gap between adhesive strips on this product is only 9mm. Therefore, about 14mm of the adhesive on the door side would not be in contact with the door. Given that the adhesive strip on the door side is only 25mm wide, this means the adhesive strength would be reduced by more than half. In this case, i doubt it will be able to withstand the force applied by my hungry toddler.

This product works well right now. Not sure how long it will stay fastened to the door. Only half of the latch was able to stick to the door because the rubber seal on the fridge is thicker than what the latch allows.

My fridge is pretty standard and this lock is too short and its full length can't stick to the fridge, so a large portion of it just floats. That being said, the glue is very strong, even when I unpeeled it once to reposition it (my bad!), it's still holding after about a month and I trust it will stick for a long time.
The 2 small buttons are hard to press, and one of them started to behave weird. It will get stuck when I press it, and unpress itself over time. The other one still works.
Overall, the lock looks great on my fridge, sticks very well and so far has been keeping my toddler from eating the butter. I've bought a 2nd one because if this one breaks and I don't have a spare, I'll be in trouble.

edit: bought a 3rd one for the freezer. the 1st one I have is still working.

I've tried a few of these, this one worked right away. The others would just open up if you pulled a bit hard. Some comments were mentioning that this doesn't fit all fridges, I was wary at first but it fit mine very well. It's keeping my two youngest kids out of the fridge so I'm not constantly worried about one of them closing it on himself.

Edit: well it came off... Turns out it worked great until it just gave up. Not too impressed but given the price I'm not surprised either

You know.. when you lose a freezer of food, you start to think what options are there for this not to happen again. I chose this. Yes there are alarms, but they do not necessarily work. Or are not loud enough. The reason ours failed.. someone did not close the door properly. This inexpensive but durable item fixes that problem. What this is…its a latch. It locks the door when you close it. And The freezer cant be opened unless you push in the sides. So now when one opens the door, they have to push the two buttons in, and when you close it, you listen to the click, then when you hear the freezer sealing, everything is gold. Originally I was going to return it as our freezer door seal is thicker than pictured in Amazon's photo. I dont know of any seal on a freezer that is that thin. So i had to maneuver it differently so the two pieces would meet as thats how it clicks together. Either way, happy with the product. It does its job. I may get a thermometer down the road that alerts if it get to warm in the freezer. But I would use it in conjunction with this.

The adhesion is the only good thing about this for our fridge type. It wasn't long enough to remain on the fridge as the tension was too much for it to function. It lasted about a day and it no longer works as we were not able to get good contact on both sides of our fridge. It was a waste of $10. If the item was larger to accommodate more fridge types then it would have been fine. For a fridge that has a door that is close to the fridge base this product is for you, If not, look at something else.

I liked that the lock was quick and simple to apply, easy to use (particularly with one hand) and is seemingly impossible for little fingers and paws to open.
I do not like that after three weeks the adhesion began to fail. This is a difficult judgment call--too much adhesion and we can't remove the lock later, too little and the lock unsticks itself. In this case, we need a bit more adhesion and some spare adhesive pads.
For this price, I expect greater reliability.

So far so good. Bought this to try because my non verbal autistic child was getting up in night and going through the fridge to eat all the treats. He can’t operate it so it’s perfect in that sense However my very clever 2 year old once he realised he couldn’t do the mechanism just prised it off by the adhesive part soooo yes I’d buy it again but I intend on either using stronger double sided tape or super glue to fix them to the cupboards/ fridge etc

I was expecting it to be fiddly but literally I peeled the tape off, lined it up on the side of my fridge door and hey ho it was done within 30 seconds!
