Ciara Geraghty is an Irish bestselling novelist. She lives in Dublin with one husband, two 'technically' grown up children and one actual kid, who is probably the most mature of the lot of them. When she is not writing in her garret, Ciara loves reading, swimming in the sea and playing her violin. The neighbours adore her, obviously....

I thought 561 pages would take me a while to work through but in fact, once I got my teeth into this story over a sunny bank holiday weekend, I struggled to put it down. The characters are well detailed, the storyline is emotional yet realistic, and Ciara cleverly makes our two main protagonists appear as extremely similar people, even thinking similar thoughts (very clever writing I thought!). Lots of twists and turns, some you can see happening and wish they wouldn't, so a lovely read overall.

This is the first book I have read by this author - I try new authors when their books are free! - and I loved it. So I will be searching out her other titles and actually buying them. I thought the plot was interesting and some of the humour had me chuckling hours after I had finished reading the book, for example "The police will be looking for two women with lice". Most of the humour was very understated, blink and you'd miss it, but it was there and made you feel engaged in the story.
It is important to me that bad grammar, incorrect spelling and typos do not interfere with the flow of the story. This book is exceptionally well crafted and that in itself is a pleasure.

When Dara's sister becomes very sick whilst waiting for a transplant, she thinks that maybe finding the father that walked out on her before she was born will solve all their problems. She hires a private detective and in exchange she agrees to help train his unruly dog. They have a couple of trips trying to find people who may help them find out where Mr Flood is. Although they are both wary of relationships following bad experiences they seem drawn to each other- will they allow themselves to fall in love.

Very much not my usual genre to read, but it was a freebie when I bought it, so I decided to give it a go. I am so very glad I did. The characters are well drawn and engaging, the situations true to life and interesting, and the plot original.
You know when you go to bed at 11pm and you decide to read just a couple of chapters to unwind before sleep and then after what feels like a few minutes, you look up at the clock and discover it's four thirty in the morning? That.
