Got two Fire HD 8 for two of my family members and this one for myself. Really happy with Fire tablets. They are as good as other low or medium budget tablets but cheaper. I do recommend it if you need a tablet for doing daily tasks such as reading a book or watching sth.
Also, the problem that some people mentioned about not being able to install google play on it is not true, by searching the web you can easily find the way to do so and it will be done in 5 minutes (it's only different than other tablets because of the fire OS)

Upon receiving and messing around to figure out what you can and can't do with this all new Amazon Fire 7 tablet. 1) It is worth more than what you paid. 2) it's easy to use. 3) The picture quality is just fine. 4) It runs smooth. 5) Lots of fun without having to sideload any outside apks. Throw a bit more memory in it as internal memory and you are set to rock and roll. Thank You Amazon

I use an out-dated Blackberry Playbook tablet which I love. However, because BB no longer updates its software and the apps have dried up, the browsers are not current and many websites, including my bank, do not display well. Most of the time a free online proxy will do the trick, but not to pay my bills, so I have been using my laptop to access online banking , at least until last week when the laptop had a disastrous crash.
Uncertain whether I can repair the laptop by bill paying time (I am waiting for a repair disk from Amazon), I needed an up-to-date machine and a recent Daily Beast review of the Fire 7 suggested it was great value for the money. In fact it was better and downloaded apps enabled my reading of the many pdf technical books I download from (?) sources as well as email and other necessary utilities. The browser works well for banking.
The only reason I have not shifted over completely is the fact that I have not found an ad blocker that works well. The BB has an excellent blocker that updates frequently. Because the Fire7 is ad-based there may not be the ability to prevent being inundated with ads, but I will keep looking.
As with all Amazon orders, it arrived quickly in new condition and didn't take long to figure out.

I gave my 9 year old daughter this tablet for her birthday on Thursday. Today is Monday and the screen is badly cracked. Previously she had a Samsung which handled a year's worth of bumps and drops with no damage. This one...3 days and it looks trashed. For $20 more you can buy a more durable Samsung Tab E Lite which, for a kid to watch YouTube and Netflix, is a better choice. Worse still, the Fire doesnt have the amount of apps that another android tablet would have.

Buy once, cry once. I should have known better. I bought a second for my other daughter but now I'm seriously considering sending it back and buying a better one.
