Ahhh! I put off reading this duet/book series because I knew, I just knew it would be like every other Jewel E Ann book I’ve read and it would grab my heart and squeeze. Just like Jessica and Jude, or Nate and Swayze or any other of her characters, Fisher and Reese have a place in my heart.

book 1 review:

I didn't really know what to expect going into this duet. I honestly thought the MMC was gonna be a legit fisherman.. the actual meaning behind the title turned out to be so great, I loved that aspect.

This entire book was fantastic. Reese is going to really upset you because she's been so indoctrinated into a strict christian lifestyle. She has a lot of views that most of will disagree with, but you start to learn to her core her beliefs don't really line up with what she's been taught, and as an 18 year old woman she's slowly starting to unravel that.

Fisher was amazing, I loved that man with my whole heart even if he hurt me too many times to count. This book is just fantastic and a perfect starting point for book 2 which is even better!!

book 2 review:

I can't even write this review without crying. I love this couple so much. This author always manages to write a story that taps into my soul. I always walk away dramatically altered by her words. This couple, this story, this everything was fantastic. Is it time for a reread yet???

Bonus Chapters Review:

these bonus chapters in Fisher's POV were exactly what we needed. I feel whole. I love them

I truly adore how Jewel Ann writes. I’ve said it before — her characters and writing is so different and real than the way that most other romance authors write. Perhaps a bit more cerebral, or maybe more realism, but it resonates with me in the way only a very few others do. Less flash, more substance.

I appreciated the bonus male POV scenes in the series. It helped, but the only thing I wish was written, was how Fisher felt when Reese left him. I wanted to know more about why he settled.

Nonetheless, another stellar book series from this author and I highly recommend.

Reese goes to live with her mother for the first time in five years, at the ripe old age of 18, and upon meeting her mother’s landlord, Fisher, falls into uncontrollable lust.
She’s been brought up by very conservative, prejudiced, judgemental, over-religious grandparents whilst her mother was in prison, and so believes that all her wanton thoughts and feelings towards Fisher are wrong. But how can she fight them?

As this is two books in one, I can’t really summarise the second part without ruining the first so we’ll leave it there, methinks.

I loved how natural their relationship felt. They may have fallen fast and yet it didn’t feel rushed or forced at all. It just seemed natural and organic and beautiful and heartbreaking and tragic and wonderful and just…everything!

One of my favourite minor things is that there was no real cattiness between women when there easily could’ve have been. All the characters were good people at their core and there wasn’t anyone I really disliked. Except maybe Reese’s paternal grandparents. I don’t begrudge anyone their religion but I haaaaate when they try to ram their own beliefs down your throat.

Fisher’s almost boyish mischief, but only with Reese, was somehow both adorable and sexy.
He’s a hot, secret nerd, who works with his hands, barely wears a shirt in the first book (can this be made into a movie now please?), is a cheeky, charming, intelligent man, and is not afraid of his feelings. Or of making those feelings known. Unicorn!!

I held off reading this one for a while because I wasn’t ready for a tearjerker. Luckily, this doesn’t hit quite as hard as some of Jewel’s other books but still…so.much.angst!

Ugh! Now I’m wondering why I waited so long because I honestly have the biggest book hangover already.
