5.0 out of 5 stars I don’t feel completely dressed for the day without it!
Reviewed in Canada on September 12, 2020
This is my 3rd FitBit, I pre-ordered the Versa 2 with Alexa as soon as I heard about it as my Ionic had just died after nearly 2 years. I tried an Apple Watch but switched back for a few reasons. One, the battery life on Fitbit beats Apple by a landslide, Apple has to be charged daily, my V2 is a year old and still lasts 4+ days. And it charges crazy fast! Two, I love my community on FitBit. Weekly challenges with people I know from all over the world, family, old friends & new friends. It’s a neat way to stay connected without all the social media crap.

As mentioned, this one is a year old now, it still works great, the watch face is in great condition (a few minor scratches, I’m hard on all my devices and wear my FitBit 24/7), it has lots of great features and apps. The sleep score is very helpful, sometimes it stops working properly (it glitches on avg 2-3 months) but all that is needed is a reboot of the watch itself.

For me personally, I should have ordered the one without Alexa and saved a few dollars as I never use that feature, despite having plenty of Alexa devices around the house. But this in no way diminishes the quality and Alexa is something you would use a lot, def go for it, it works just fine, I just don’t really like talking to my watch (I guess I’ll never work for CONTROL 😉).

The app itself is good, I’d make some changes but nothing major.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versa 2 vs Versa 3
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 4, 2020
When I was trying to decide what Fitbit to get I found myself torn between the versa 2 and the Versa 3, and I’m sure many others are to, so here’s my breakdown on why I got a Versa 2 and not a Versa 3, and what I think of the Versa 2 now I’ve had it a few days.

The main difference with the Versa 3 is that it has built in GPS, google assist, a built in speaker and a faster charging option... all things I could easily live without when the Versa 2 was only priced £129.99 (during a Black Friday sale) while the Versa 3 was £199.99.

The Versa 2 may not have GPS built in but if you have your phone on you (which I always do) it uses the GPS from that anyway so having it built in isn’t necessary.

There may not be any google assistant but Alexa is built in, and as someone with an echo in every room already this is a much more practical voice assistant for me anyway.

The Versa 2 still records all the same fitness stats (24/7 heart rate, daily steps, all your workouts, calories burned, water intake, food intake, menstrual cycles etc) and the mobile app is the same for both watches. I’ve found all the data it’s recorded to be accurate and both the app and the watch itself presents the data in an easy to follow way and it’s quite simple to access it all.
It also tracks your sleep automatically and though you need to pay for Fitbit premium for some data (more detailed heart rate and how often you move in your sleep) all the main important information is recorded accurately and is easily viewed.

One of my concerns before getting the watch was not liking the way the clock was set out. I’m not a fan of the hours being piled above the minuets. Thankfully there’s are loads of free (and even more that you can pay for) clock faces to choose from and personalise. You can add your own pictures from your camera roll, change colour schemes or pick a clock face that needs no adjustments but suits you fine (some of the ones I like are pictured here).

The smart watch part of the Versa is also great. I get all my phone notifications pop up on my watch (but you do need to go on the Fitbit app and under settings on your watch allow other apps access to it so their notifications come through). When out running I can see if I’m getting any texts at a quick glance which is great.

I can also control my music on my watch. I use amazon music as my main streaming device, which fitbit doesn’t support as such (not in the same way it does Spotify), but if I start it playing on my phone I can then skip though the songs plus play and pause them using the watch, which to be honest is all I need.

I’m also extremely happy with the overall look of the watch. I love the colour of both the strap and the edge of the screen.
The strap also has lots of size options (and even came with a second larger strap incase that’s needed).

My one gripe with the whole thing is the charging dock, which firstly didn’t come with a plug, just a usb, but secondly it just feels clumsy. It doesn’t really stand up straight and from googling I’ve been able to see that it works best on its side, but still falls over and doesn’t really feel like it’s the best design. Saying that it does the job and charges the watch quickly (and the charge last AGES!!).

Overall I’m extremely pleased with this watch and would recommend it above the Versa 3 if you’re looking to save a little money and you’re happy to have your phone on you all the time for the GPS.

EDIT- My husband also got a Versa 2 this week and we have since found that controlling your music works better on my iPhone and is complicated and not worth the hassle on his Android phone. He also has the option to reply to text message on his watch while I can’t do that with my iPhone.

Another update before I return my watch for the second time: it’s 5:36am and my watch says that I slept 8 hours. I’ll upload the imagine. I went to bed at 11:15 and woke up at 5 am. I can’t believe how off the sleeping app is today.

An update: my Sister got a new Fitbit versa for me again and I wore both Apple Watch and Fitbit Watch. The step count was very different. Almost 3 thousand more steps with the Fitbit. It counted extra 800 steps while I was in the resting position. Ones again I contacted the Fitbit asking them why this has happened, they told me Apple and other devices count steps differently. 2856 step difference is huge though.

My wife just got her Fitbit Versa 2 yesterday and went swimming with it as it today. The watch initially worked for a few minutes while using the swimming app. After 20 minutes she came out and the watch was totally off. We tried to charge it everything but it seams that it got water fried. It’s supposed to be water resistant up to 50 meters! The pink band was bought separately. Original was purple. Had exactly same problem with last generation Versa. And from googling it seams that we are not alone with this problem. I returned my watch and asked Fitbit if they would give a discount if I buy a new watch they said they will not. Well I guess I’ll just save up extra and get an Apple Watch. Will definitely send all the videos I had made to the bloggers so others won’t make the same mistake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fitbit Versa 2: con comando vocale Alexa e monitoraggio del sonno
Reviewed in Italy on September 18, 2019
- BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas
- Nexi
- Revolut (Mastercard)
- Carrefour Banca (Mastercard)
