I LOVE this trilogy! It gets better and better with every book I've read. This one was hilarious and sweet in every way, I laughed so hard there were tears. Jewel is phenomenal with portraying the characters and she's just amazing in her writing. Nate really deserved his happiness with Gracelyn - what a perfect fit. It would be lovely to see how Gabriel and Morgan turns out too...

What a gorgeous book. This story warmed my heart right now. It has been hard to find books that I could sink into during the realities of June 2020. This book was a soul-soother. This book is Part 3 of the Transcend series but could be read as a stand-alone. But why would you cheat yourself out of the beginning of Nate's story? Either way, this is a top read of 2020.

Fortuity follows a Nathaniel (Nate) whom we meet in Book 1 and 2 of the Transcend series. Eight years later, Nate returns to the US and temporarily settles in San Diego where he and his daughter meet neighbours Gracelyn and her nephew Gabe. Grace just became guardian to her nephew after his dad (Grace's brother) and mom die in an accident. Both Gabe and Morgan, Nate's 10 year old daughter, become friends leading the two adults to gravitate around each other and toward each other. The friendships are knowingly temporary, at least for Nate and Grace. But the push and pull and stronger pull for these two are briefly fortuitous. Or so they think at first.

Every single character of this book charmed my heart. The supporting cast is so well rounded it felt like you were immediately part of a huge extended family. That is Jewel's gift, amongst her many gifts in writing. The writing was simply gorgeous. You will be highlighting beautiful lines and passages.
And of course, Jewel E. Ann's supreme talent at creating cracking chemistry between two (I believe) fated lovers is on high intensity here. From that one surprise sneak kiss all the way to the final scenes of the book, you will fall in love this summer with this family. And you will be better for it.

As well, shout out to those looking for a great romance with an older mature couple!!!!!

An emotional and heartfelt read. Just what we need for the times we are in.
Fortuity means a chance occurrence, being controlled by chance rather than design. If you have read the first two books, you will know reincarnation is a theme in the books. Do Gracelyn and Nathaniel meet by chance or are there another force at work?
Nathaniel is a widowed father of a 10 year old girl who have made a stopover in San Diego after travelling the globe for the past several years, before going back home to settle in Wisconsin. Gracelyn is the newly appointed guardian to her 10 year old nephew after the recent passing of her brother and sister-in-law. They are renting the beach house next door for the summer while Gracelyn finds an appropriate home for her and her nephew in the San Diego area.
A special bond forms between these two families.

*the author describes this book more as a spin off of the first two. You don't need to read the first two to enjoy this book, but there are a few spoilers if you haven't read books 1 and 2.

Jewel has a quirky sense of humour, a great working knowledge of tweenie dialect and a gift for writing sexy scenes that don't make me cringe!

Funny story:

I have been reading this hilarious book - real life, irreverent humour at its best which probably primed me for what happened next....

These hot evenings, my husband usually has a doze in his chair before bed and last night after his shower was no exception. When he woke up, we chatted a bit in the gloaming and then he stood up, took a step toward me and trod on the dog's squeaky toy.

All I remember seeing was his body go straight up and his pyjama pants follow gravity down. "What was that," he bellowed at no one in particular!

Well that got me laughing, and the more I laughed, the funnier my book got. I giggled and snorted and chortled until my sinuses felt like I'd been crying all day.

I will never look at that toy the same way again! 🤣

It's the first book by Jewel E Ann that I've read. It won't be my last either!
This book has it all...
Nathaniel and Gracelyn. Professor of Anatomy, widower with a 10 year old daughter, Morgan. Salon worker, single and has inherited her 10 year old nephew, Gabe.
Nathaniel and Gracelyn rent houses on the beach from Mr Hans...
There is such humour in this book. There were times when I sniggered and times when I roared with laughter. Morgan is priceless. She just doesn't know when to keep quiet and she's on a quest...
Nathaniel, Nate, reminds Gracelyn of a certain character from a series set in Scotland and she has a vivid imagination! Gracelyn becomes Elvis and a wonderful story ensues.
The characters are so normal, no pots of money, no vast corporations behind them. So refreshing!
Just regular people juggling kids and feelings around and trying to make things work.
It's an incredibly well written story with great characters. There's lots of love, humour and all the normal emotions and worries that we all have, just that they're voiced wonderfully here!
