First and foremost, I have no idea why many reviews listed this as difficult to assemble. I'm a 36 year old female office worker and I had it completely together in less than 10 minutes. The keyboard stand itself is fairly stable and easy to adjust. However, the lowest height may be still too high for some young children. I bought this for my tall 6 year old daughter. While she is able to comfortably use the stand, I could see it being an issue for other little ones.
