Ive had 2 germ guardian machines for about 3 years now but having 2 of them gets really expensive for filters. We have 2 cats, 4 rescue rabbits, a hamster, and 3 rats so I have to suck it up and usually pay a hundred dollars for filters every 4 months. Ridiculous if you ask me, anyways I found these no name brand ones and theyre the EXACT same but half the price. Honestly they may be better. The germ guardian brand filters suddenly became plastic and i really do not like adding more plastic waste to the earth but these are cardboard around the filter so I can totally recycle them. Im going to update this in 4 months, we will see how these hold up as i do vacuum them off weekly.

Update January 2020 have had these for about 4 months now and they work the exact same as brand name. Dont want to switch back to brand name but these are out of stock. Hope they come back. We have both a 26 and a 28 inch size germ guardians now so ones the newer model and they fit both.

Overall sturdy construction. The carbon pre-filter is attached to the actual pleated filter, and made of a different material than the manufacturer's original part. This filter was a VERY tight fit in my machine, I had to bang it into place to make it fit. That being said, the machine runs just fine and I've had no problems so far. We'll see how well it filters!

These seem like they fit right, and compared to the in-store price for the genuine filters it's almost too tempting to pass up. However, after you run these for a few weeks you'll see buildup on the surfaces around the fan's exhaust which is a clear indication of all of the material that is getting around the filter, as they don't fit properly.

The hidden story isn't that unfiltered air is getting through the fan, it's all the buildup on the fan blades from the material getting around the filter which shortens the life of your fan. In the grand scheme of things, the cost savings from using these filters will probably pay for several fans. I guess it all depends on what you're buying these for.

I used them to filter the air in a paint room (I know, not the best product to start with). But your needs may vary.

one end of the filter fit into the area, however it was not square, so the other end was too wide. I was able to squish the filter on the wide end and put it into the air cleaner. Not sure about the second one. Hope the first one lasts a while.
