This is adorable and has that squishy good feeling to it.
Morgan is trying to get through school. Dealing with the changes to her family dynamics after a divorce and her Dad moving out and away, and her family dealing with complicated emotions. She's also so carefully trying to keep things in different boxes until she can move away and live authentically.
She then meets Keltie who is as earnest as Morgan is reserved. Keltie is intense and like a puppy full of energy. She is quite funny too to Morgan's careful approach to everything. Oh and she's also a Selkie.
Morgan is learning to come to terms with who she is. Warning though that there is an outed situation that happens but those around her are very accepting. This is a coming-of-age story that deals with friendship and family dynamics and learning to be free and accepting yourself. I also really enjoyed the repairing of the relationship between Morgan and her younger brother.

Selkie magic!

It was the most gorgeous story mixed with modern day friendship issues, coming out the closet, dating and family breakdowns. It was an amazing story with some beautiful use of selkie lore. I fully enjoyed the juxtaposition play with the beautiful artwork going on. I loved it and was hooked from the start. A very fun LGBTQ+ book.
