“Seductive, steamy, and satisfying. Mahurin has delivered a fearless and captivating sequel that has me hooked. This is officially one of my favorite series ever.” -- Adalyn Grace, New York Times bestselling author of All the Stars and Teeth
“Decadent and dangerous, Blood & Honey was exactly the book I needed at precisely the right time. The rich cast of characters captivated me, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next for this merry band of miscreants.” -- Reneé Ahdieh, New York Times bestselling author of The Wrath & the Dawn series
"Blood & Honey grabbed me by the throat. Shining with irreverent humor and brutal heartache, every magical word is rendered beautifully throughout the many twists and harrowing turns. Mahurin delivers a triumphant return to Belterra." -- Isabel Ibañez, author of Woven In Moonlight
“A breathless, breathtaking continuation of the magical world Mahurin has created pits the strength of love against the need to protect those one loves…at any cost. Would you lose your soul to save someone else’s? Blood & Honey doesn’t just address this question; it slams the reader into the story - and that existential question - in a brilliant, unending roller-coaster ride.” -- Jodi Picoult, New York Times bestselling author of Small Great Things and A Spark of Light
Praise for Serpent & Dove: “Drips with intrigue and shadow.” -- Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books
“A brilliant debut, full of everything I love: a sparkling and fully-realized heroine, an intricate and deadly system of magic, and a searing romance that kept me reading long into the night. Serpent & Dove is an absolute gem of a book.” -- Sarah J Maas, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Court of Thorns and Roses series
“Will cast a spell on romance fans.” -- Kirkus Reviews
“Mahurin has taken the witch and witch hunter trope and made it new again. The world-building will draw in readers and Lou’s strong but wistful nature will keep them turning pages.” -- School Library Journal --This text refers to the paperback edition.

Absolutely enchanting and equally infuriating. Makes you laugh, cry, fall in love with the characters and the story. I dare you. :)
I love the characters. Lou is a true heathen and I will always miss her tough, trouble-making antics. I think she had the best arc in the entire book, her power soaring to truly incredible levels. Coco, Beau, and Cecile all had their moments in the spotlight as well. I'm actually hoping there will be more of Coco and Beau in the future, since they were so much fun together. There were new and familiar characters who developed with what little time they had, and I was glad to see them.
As for Reid, well... I do still love his stubborn loyal heart. I think he did come a long, tooth-and-nail way. But. There was a section of the book that changed his character and made him infuriating for a large chunk of the story. It felt like his entire development had been reversed.
I really enjoyed the first half of the book. Mahurin took her characters to dazzling new locations and pulled out all the magical stops. It was intense, dramatic, and filled with shocking moments. The climax was the same, with everyone fighting and pure chaos reigning. My problem was with the gap between the middle and the climax. The ground was just too familiar, and I was thinking back to SERPENT & DOVE, realizing I had read this romance before. I knocked off a star because there was no elevation to Lou and Reid's romance, no fresh challenge for them to overcome that didn't put them right back at the beginning.
That said, I did enjoy the book. Even during its darker moments and the ending that made my heart ache, I did find the writing to be solid and the plot itself to move smoothly. Even for all its rocky moments and my gripes, I do genuinely think Mahurin has great talent and will continue to write incredible stories. I will miss Lou, Reid, and the rest of the gang. They are one of a kind, and I hope to see more of this world in the future.
Mahurin once again brings out her fantastic writing style and continues to build upon this world with vivid descriptions that make you feel like you are in the scene. I love how creative and indepth she is.
Our fav enemies to lovers couple Lou and Reid are once again put through several trials that threaten to tear them apart. But I love how just undeniable and strong their bond is. No matter what is thrown at them. My love for Beau just grows as his intense loyalty to his "sister mine" Lou shows through so many little actions and gestures. I've enjoyed watching this relationship develop. Another pleasant surprise for me was the character development for Celie and how much I came to like and respect her but the end of the book.
While the conclusion of the book is bitter sweet ( both because the ending itself and the fact that it over in general), as a reader we are given a fitting conclusion. In a book that delivers on all our fantasies of mythical creatures and the love story we all crave. The story and characters are ones I will not soon forget!

Perfection. Truly that is the single best way to sum up not just ‘Gods & Monsters’ but the trilogy as a whole too. This series hasn’t just lived up to my expectations; it’s exceeded them. The entire time that I was lost in the author’s world I was utterly enraptured and brimming with delight. There were a lot of dark, disturbing and despair inducing moments, true, but I was in love with reading throughout this entire series. I didn’t want to stop for a single second. Truthfully I’m utterly in awe of this series and can honestly say that it’s up there with my favourites of all time now.
There’s so much to gush about and praise that I truly don’t know exactly where to start. The writing was beautiful and mesmerising and there were so many segments that I longed to share. The imagery was beautiful and some of the speeches really hit home. The world that the series is set within continued to fascinate me to no end. The action was non stop; twists and turns literally lurking around every corner. It was dark and disturbing at times; laugh out loud hilarious at others. There were times when I could have cried and moments when I actually had the urge to hug this book close to my chest.
Character wise I’m honestly in awe. Every individual within these pages is well crafted, developed and utterly intriguing. The villains are fascinating in their downright savagery. There were moments when I flinched. Truly. The heroes are delightful and bring so much warmth to my heart too. And Lou? Oh she’s up there with Jude (from ‘The Cruel Prince’) when it comes to my favourite characters now. The romance is so believable and engulfing. The love leaps off of the page and the sultry scenes are staggering. Needless to say I’m in love with this book.
All too often finales in a series leave me feeling frustratingly letdown. In general I do enjoy them – it’s rare to find yourself suddenly struggling to like something that you’d previously loved – but they have an annoying tendency to rush the endings I find. When a series builds up to a big, crushing conflict I all too frequently find that it falls flat in one way or another. That, when you take the past into account, the final conflict feels too easy almost. That wasn’t the case here. Oh no. This was the perfect ending to this series. It tied everything up wonderfully and I was glued to the pages throughout. In truth I can’t actually pick a favourite addition within this series which is rare; I do think I adore them all equally.
Let’s be honest, it goes without saying that I recommend this book. I would quite literally scream about it from the rooftops if possible, or at least shove copies of book one into numerous people’s hands. So if you haven’t already done so please, please do read this series. And if you adored any like it then please send your recommendations my way. Now I’ll just wait, impatiently, for the author’s next book to release.

Reid continues to question who he is now that magic is part of his life. He is no longer the Chasseur he strived his whole life to be but doesn’t feel connected to his magical heritage and wonders if he even wants to be. As his internal battles continue he must also fight for Lou to bring the woman he fell in love with back to him.
Decisions will be made and words spoken that will bring the group to its knees and force them into situations they may never return from. Lou and Reid will face the ultimate test of their love as their memories, personalities and pasts are altered and twisted. Evil is closing in on all sides, new allies are forged and old ones lost. Can these four friends survive the showdown with Morgane and the forces of the Crown? As witches, werewolves, humans, creatures and gods converge, the final battle for their lives begins.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Emotionally wrecked and completely compelled. A tense, passionate and amazing ending to an addictive and fascinating trilogy. Lou and Reid are one of the best fictional couples I've read and two of my favourite individual characters. They are such complete opposites yet work so well together. Their love is emboldening, powerful and fun. Inner strength, loyalty and love are at the core of their being. The story is woven perfectly together and I am happy with how all the plot threads concluded. I will miss this world and the people within it but I will return to visit often.

Beau and cocos back and forth digs were so entertaining 🤣 Beau and his no filter charming mouth became one of my favourites characters I loved the relationship between him and Lou and his brotherly affections toward Reid
I was a bit dubious when it came to the waters and hoping it would heal Lou and I thought maybe that it would be too filler but I loved the twist that it was Constantine that guarded it and ansel and Lou finally getting closure was something I didn’t know I needed
Also cocos mother being Angelique was not something I was expecting but I loved how the stories from serpent and dove were involved it was a nice twist!
Célie was an unexpected addition to the gang but was surprisingly a nice fit, I loved how she came out of her porcelain shell and stood up for herself I love a bit of girl power!
The last 150 pages were just amazing and really redeemed the series for me and had me on the edge of my seat! I think my favourite thing about Lou is her passion for saying the most inappropriate things at the worst times🤣 iconic
That epilogue was just perfect I really could not have asked for a better ending and it was so nice that it was from ansel as perspective. I didn’t really understand the purpose of ansel dying but it really became clear we needed to see Lou and coco overcome their grief and grow from it
Overall I enjoyed this a lot more than blood and honey but serpent and dove still reigns for me!

From belly laughing, to anger, to worry, and sobbing. This book is pure gold. I have read many books in my time but I have never walked away from the end of a series feeling more content than I have with the final book in the trilogy of Serpent and Dove.
Characters that I didn’t see the overall fuss of previously *cough* Celie and Beau *cough*, have now become some of my favourite characters ever written. Shelby Mahurin did a phenomenal job of developing, playing out, and completing the arcs of all of the characters in the series. People may argue that, like blood and honey, too many characters were introduced, and the concept of mermaids, witches, werewolves, dragons and gods all in one novel was cliché. At times, I may agree with this, but Shelby’s writing did not make in cliché at all. I personally believe that removing one ‘monster’ from the story would have resulted in a completely different outcome.
The final verse and take me to church are both two of the most beautifully written scenes I have ever read, and you can tell that Mahurin takes great care in making sure things are right. There is nothing wrong about this book.
Some may argue that death in painful, some may fear death, as did Nicholina, but death can also bring out the beauty in others. Lou had a tough time throughout the three books, but her cradling Morgane shows the Lou never lost her beautiful heart. A heart a pure as the gold that runs through the magic patterns.
Shelby is and will always be an automatic buy for me, and is one of the best authors of this generation. It’s true what she says. Blood and Honey had to walk (for me it was a jog), so Gods and Monsters could run, but boy did this book fly.

I don’t know if it’s because I was struggling with personal issues or that it simply wasn’t all that.
I don’t know – I feel done. I feel let down. I feel BLERUGH.
It turned out right in the end though.
