Who Will Win
“The myths are real. There was a war, and they’re the last ones standing.”
– Ilene Andrews, Monarch
Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meeting in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.
A towering apex predator awakened by humankind’s use of elemental weapons of war, has come to be a ferocious protector of the natural world and of Earth. His devasting breath and thunderous roar, paired with his brute strength on land and under water, have allowed him to survive battles with powerful predators.
Kong has, for decades since his heroic and brutal rite of passage, lived—and been studied by scientists—on the uncharted Skull Island. The scientists at Monarch who continue to oversee the welfare of Kong have created a vast biodome to secure his safety from the increasingly unstable climate affecting the surrounding ecosystem. Kong is no longer an adolescent but fully grown and bigger, bolder and more badass than ever.
Dr Nathan Lind
(Alexander Skarsgård) is tasked with convincing Kong’s on-site team to take him from the only home he’s ever known on a potentially deadly journey to what could be his ancestral home, where Titans like him may have originated.
(Millie Bobby Brown) leads the charge to ensure the safety of Godzilla. Though she may not be able to converse with Godzilla, there’s no one who feels more protective of the largely misjudged creature. Madison has become a sort of “storm chaser” when it comes to giant monsters.
Dr Ilene Andrews
(Rebecca Hall), Monarch’s Anthropological Linguist, has become an expert on Kong after spending years on Skull Island studying his behavior in his natural habitat. With time running out for the Titan, Andrews is confronted with the harrowing choice to keep Kong on Skull Island and risk his extinction or use her expertise to help Lind uproot him.
Dr Mark Russell
Once a Monarch skeptic and outsider, Dr. Russell (Kyle Chandler) has now taken on the mantle of Monarch Deputy Director of Special Projects in the uncharted new world left in the wake of recent events. In his new position, he grapples with the responsibility of helping to lead a global Titan defense organization while also being present for his rebellious teenage daughter.

Furthermore, there was a new human cast in this movie, compared to the human cast in the previous movie in the series, Godzilla: king of monsters. the previous movie starred Coach Frickin Taylor from Friday night lights and in GvK, he showed up for about three minutes. This is unacceptable. Coach Taylor would have stepped in, made the two protagonists do some drills, and avoided the whole confusion of fighting each other. They would have teamed up with each other to take on mecha godzilla (spoilers, don't care) and at the end of it Coach Taylor would have gotten them a scholarship to Texas A&M football program. Thats the movie America needs right now.
Also, my toddler disliked this movie. She has her first bout of buyer's remorse. Thanks Amazon.
Two stars for each minute where Coach Taylor was in this movie.
Always do well
Somewhat incredulous plot devices aside I generally really enjoyed the film. My comments would echo that of many others - the monster battles and CGI effects are amazing and entertaining.... while the human interest elements are weak. Still - I found the human factors less annoying than in some of the previous offerings in the series (“Godzilla - King of the Monsters” being the worst of the lot) so it didn’t slog the movie down too much. Overall - I thought things moved right along nicely, with plenty of surprises along the way, a great popcorn flik! Must wonder: what’s next?!

This IS a CGhigh movie especially in 3D (which is impressive on this release), you will see monsters, creatures, Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicles (spaceships) and a giant robot.
As mentioned above I decided to bite the bullet and pay over the top for the import 3D double pack and I am happy to report that the discs are multi region and mine play on a standard UK player.
Although it wouldn't matter much, I am trying to avoid spoilers but I do need to tell you that some scenes are really action filled but there are also some tender moments...
But mostly it is noisy and bangy all the way through!
I understand that it is not for everyone but if you are looking for a special effects Bonanza filled with pure escapism, ignore the bad reviews and get this anyway.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ignore the Amazon details stating it is Region 1.
Both the 3D and 2D Blu ray's from America are Region free and played on my UK Playstation Perfectly.
