A brand new stand-alone romantic comedy from the best-selling, award-winning team of Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy.
Hosting her brother's wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning's life. Already the family screw-up, she can't afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.
Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate's gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he's the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he's facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he's really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you've got to make an effort if you want to score.
But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?
Caution: May cause accidental aspiration of tea or coffee. Do not listen in a public place where loud laughter is inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppy cuddling, and a snarky pair of underwear. Cover art copyright Okay Creations.

However, for me, I missed the final depth of a sparkling shine to Blake and Jess as a couple and it left me disappointed. In a glut of books, their story becomes forgettable even with (or maybe because of) all the snark. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.
Loved it from beginning to end, Blake and J-babe had me laughing throughout and I loved that we got little bits of Wes and Jamie (or as Blake calls them "wesmie") the only thing I felt it was lacking was length!! I just wanted more!!! .... great read!!

Jess Canning is Jamie Canning' s sister (Him) and Ryan Wesley' s sister in law. She is a sassy girl who enjoys life but lately she feels a bit lost. Jess perceives herself as the flighty sibling , but she forges ahead with her new career as a nurse. I loved watching her grow in confidence - and fall in love. Blake Riley is Wes's teammate and good friend and neighbour to both Wes and Jamie. He reminded me of a really enthusiastic puppy who bounds around full of energy and embraces life with everything he has. Blake is a joker, a team player, loyal, sweet, sexy and has something absolutely adorable about him. He and Jess hooked up once. He wants to do it again. She doesn't. Not really. No. But Blake Riley is a persuasive and sexy guy......
Fab characters. Interesting storyline that was deeper than I expected but had me hooked. Some absolutely hilarious laugh out loud moments. Loved, loved, loved it.
HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

Happily, 'Wesmie' feature in this new series by the same authors. Enough to satisfy my craving, yet not so much they take over this story.
This one's about Jess; Jamie's sister. It starts with her planning the Wesmie wedding.
It also features Wesmie's boisterous friend, Blake Riley. But he starts to be less smiley. Aww!
Now, Jess is a little bit self-absorbed. And Blake is a bit pushy. So, this doesn't get the 5* rating the other books did.
HOWEVER, it's a really lovely story.
Blake is a better man than anyone gave him credit for.
Jess has a worthy destiny.
They balance each other beautifully. Plus, the sizzling chemistry - cheezus!
Not many authors have the power to really draw me into their world, and make me feel like I'm there as a side-character. But I totally feel like I'm part of this one (despite not being a sports fan!).
4.5*

This new series by this amazing author pair is picking up where we left off in US, the second book in the prequel MM duology about Wes and Jamie, or Wesmie which is the bestest ship name ever. The WAGs series is about the Toronto hockey team and the lovelife of the friends and teammates of Wes.
This first book is all about our favourite goofball and Wes's best friend, Blake Riley who we got to know in US first and Jess Canning, Jamie's big sister who was also there in US.
They thought they're never going to see each other again after that one mistake of a day but being made of honour and best man at a wedding complicates things.
Jess is slowly going crazy because her life is about to turn around.. again... and her family already thinks she can't decide for herself what to do. And now Blake's antics are a constant in her life which doesn't make things easier.
Blake is determined to prove he's not the immature bachelor everyone thinks he is. And he's set his eyes on the beutiful blond who seems hell bent on rejecting him.
Blake and his crazy hides a vulnerable soul and Jess despite her own insecurities might just be the person who can repair what once was broken.
What's better than hockey players in a romance book? Hoceky players with dogs! Blake and Jess's story was funny with some blanaced angst and of course... hockey!
If I pick up a book from these ladies the fun is absolutely guaranteed. I loved every moment and of course there was enough Wesmie to make everything more perfect.
Absolutely loveable characters, a fulfilling, fun story about bringing out the best in someone and hockey and dogs and more laughter than you can be prepared for.
If you loved Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus and Briar U series and the author pair's HIM duology then this series is a must! The perfect amount of fluff and angst to entertain you!

Jess (Jamie's older sister) was not my fave character in US...she was a bit of an airhead, who didn't seem to take anything seriously and had had several career choices...none of which worked out...until she decided her next career move was to hop from party planning to nursing (and a fine job she didn't do of that in Us!!); however, everyone's allowed a second chance (or in her case 6 or so chances), and as taking a nursing course in the US costs gazillions in fees, her cheapest option was going to Toronto and registering there....and couldn't we see that one coming readers??
The one liners in this, and Blake's overall part in the story were wonderful, so funny...laugh out loud funny at times, and well, let's not forget the larger than life personality that is Mama Blakey and her love for her amazing family. We discover why Blake is reluctant to settle down (and who can blame him....Molly, the lying bitch!!), we catch up with Wes and Jamie, the WAGs and the Canning Clan and yes, maybe using kids suffering from cancer as a storyline was pushing things a little, but I have to say that overall this was just the sweetest read. I will keep reading the series as it's Eriksson's story next, and I felt quite sad for him in US...and in this one. 5 'Come On Blakey' stars from me.

For the past 5 years Blake has been used to women throwing themselves at him but not Jess Canning! I loved seeing a softer more vulnerable side to him (where Jess was concerned). And the more time Jess spends with him she realises that there is more to him than what you initially get to see.
This was a funny, sweet & romantic story.
