Most epoxies are more similar than dissimilar. I’ve read through the reviews here and one of the recurring themes is that people are unhappy it doesn’t set in 5 minutes. This is the nature of epoxy. No epoxy guarantees this set time. Epoxy starts to set in 5 minutes on average. It could also set much faster. How long it will actually take to set depends on your application and environmental conditions. Full hardening can take well in excess of 24-48 hours.
Some reviewers are dissatisfied with the syringe-type dispenser and how it can distribute the product unevenly. This usually happens only when the plungers are depressed unevenly to begin with. As the resin and hardener are separate you are not obligated to mix everything that is dispensed, so adjusting one or the other is easy. Also important to keep in mind that the mix does not have to be exactly 50/50. + or - 10% either way is within manufacturer tolerance. Thorough mixing (about 1 minute) and applying the epoxy in temperatures above 20C (70F) is far more important than mix ratio. The product is also far less viscous and easier to dispense if warmed first. Warm water baths, running warm water from the faucet over the syringes or even a quick run in the microwave for 10-20 seconds before use all work very well, but do not overheat as this can affect set time.
Some reviews mention that the product does not hold. All glues be they mechanical or chemical bond require adequate surface preparation. This cannot be overlooked in the case of epoxy. Non-porous surfaces need to be sanded and dust-free in order to give the epoxy something to hold. Some perceive epoxy to be the strongest one size fits all bonding agent for any material. This is inaccurate. Epoxy simply may not be the best glue for your specific task. The right glue for the job is analogous to the right tool for the job. Keep in mind that this is also just a glue. Don’t expect it to replace rivets and other mechanical fasteners.
In conclusion this is an excellent product. I have used it for projects that are still in place after many years. Highly recommended.
