Best yet that I’ve had out of 4 kids and going threw so many of them (cause most slowly starts to smell/like my or Ingenuity one started to smell cause you can’t remove the whole thing to clean it properly)
I got the DLX Kagen and it's the worst high chair that could possibly exist.
I know you are in a rush to get your baby the best rated items but do yourself a favor and buy one that as a small tray and no seat cover (the ikea one seems cheap but then you can invest your money elsewhere, you dont need a fancy comfy high chair, just one that cleans up easy). Especially if you are considering baby lead weaning. Just modify the tray to make it easy to pop out and you are good to go.
For the DLX Kagen :
1) To clean the cover, you have to undo all the chair with hidden buttons and weird maneuvers that takes forever. Unlock the seat, recline the seat, use the recline button to unlock the hidden back seat lock button at the exact same time or it doesnt come out, undo the seat cover straps, take the straps out... and then do it all over again when you install the seat cover back after washing it. I needed to mark the straps with permanent marker because they are aesthetically the same but only go on 1 of the 4 sides each.
Honestly, this is easily the worst thing with this chair.
2) The tray is too big to fit in the sink, so there is nowhere to let it dry except if you want to have a tray to occupy half of your kitchen counters all day... Plus, my baby ate carrots once and now its just stained in orange no matter what i do. Edit : it came off after washing it twice everyday for 2 weeks.
3) It's so bulky, it takes so much space of your dining room area... and there is no mecanism to lock the weels, so you have to always use your foot when getting your baby in and out of the chair.
4) Stains on the seat cover... Once it happens they are here for a while if you dont machine wash the cover immediately. Wiping doesn't work. And how unreasonable is it to have to machine wash and hang dry a daily used chair ?? (because you cant throw this one in the dryer!)
5) If you are considering baby led weaning, don't buy this chair, my baby is very tall but she still have no room for movement. Her arms are often stuck under the tray. The tray should be lower, this is badly designed. And once she let her arms ups, stains happen automatically since the chair is so tall and close to the body...
6) As I said, not baby lead weaning friendly and especially because of the 5 points harness. It just restrains your baby on the back of the chair and she can't reach anything further than what's immediately in front of her, so forget about plates.
Only good point? It's so high, my dog can't steal anything from the tray, if he ever gets around.
Don't buy this chair. Really not worth the struggle and the price.
And it will 100% make your husband snaps if you ask him to remove the complicated seat cover and then you will have to do it in his place, on top of all that you have to do. So give yourself a favor, buy another chair that you can easily handle.
If I have to find a fault with it, it would be that the tray is pretty large so it’s not that easy to wash in the sink. It would’ve been great if it had an insert, but it’s really not that big of a deal!
but there are better ones out there.
these wheels dont lock and my crawling baby like to use it to stand in the kitchen so its a but dangerous if not put up against a wall
the infant insert should have some sort of velcro piece to keep it upright it just flops around when the shoulder straps are through the holes.. thats all that being beld in place with.
kinda silly
but i give it 3 out of 5 i guess
