If this movie is some great memory for you, stop reading now. You won't like what I'm going to say and, in part, I can see why the film is popular, but its just really not for me.
The music is, mediocre at best. A couple of the cars look half decent but aren't anything special. Plot? What plot? A bunch of people do some things and there is kind of a weak rivalry for reasons between two groups of characters but there are literally no stakes, no confrontations, no resolutions no tension...its dull and pointless.
The song that Riz sings was probably the only part of the film I truly enjoyed because she was so expressive and I really liked her singing voice. Why couldn't she have had more to sing about? Oh right... Olivia Newton John... Nothing against her but I just don't get why she was/is a big deal...
I was checking how much time was left in the film many times and when I was at the point where there were 20 minutes left I remember crying out please shoot me!
Why then did I watch it? Well, my girlfriend tole me it was a great film and that she loved it. Since I hadn't actually seen the film when she told me about it and I knew it was a very popular film, I decided to give it a viewing.
I tried to give it a fair shake. I looked at the film objectively and the only conclusion I can come to is that, for me, this is crap.
It was absolute torture! I never, ever, ever want to see this film again! I hate it.
Why 2 stars then instead of just one? Riz earned the second star for giving me the ONLY reprieve of enjoyment for the entire film.
