We have used this product for a few years now. We lived in a house with very old plumbing. There was a dip in one of the main lines where sludge and other ick would build up. Every six months or so we were having to use an electric snake to clean out the lines. We started using Green Pig once a month in all our drains to help breakdown some of the oils (from pots and pans) and other organic materials to avoid having to deal with the hassle and expensive of snaking the lines. With regular monthly maintenance, we didn't have any issues for over a year! We have since moved and have discovered that our tub and toilet (only one bath in this house, we downsized) will back up for mysterious reasons. This happened shortly after we just moved in and had a plumber come out. He was able to clear the back up, but couldn't figure out what it was or why, even with a camera. We had it happen again a few month later. At that point, we started using Green Pig again on a monthly basis. It has been almost a year with no issues. I highly recommend this product for monthly drain/pipe maintenance. It works!!!

HOWEVER, I read the reviews of this stuff. No, I don't have a septic system. I used it anyway. 1 gallon, three drains (tub, sink, and most of it down the toilet. VIOLA problem solved (took two days for enzymes to do their thing. HUGE difference. I plan on using this again in a few days the same way just to make sure they it gets the job done. Still trying to decide what to do about the plumber.... did I mention that I am a lawyer lol.

I had high hopes for this product. I have to problems with stopped drains, but oh my, odors from my shower drain are very bad. Bio-film appears to a nasty mainstay in this drain. I followed the instructions, let the product sit overnight, but odor was back after one day of a clean smelling drain in the shower. I cannot use chlorine bleach...I do not want to destroy the good bacteria in my sewer system.

If anyone has any ideas for sewer-friendly drain odors cleaners, please post.
